who is play that game the stalker, how does it run on a 8800 gts?

it should run great, even my x1900xtx oc can chew it up at 1600x1200 on near maximum settings with 16xAF with good framrates

No AA is quite a turn off. Otherwise it runs great!

Use the AA from the options screen in the game. It works from there but not from the nvidia control panel. It has something to do with the way they coded Stalker. If you read the nvidia driver notes they say the same thing. AA does work but you have to enable it from within the game.

My 8800gts 640mb runs it at 1280x1024 smooth as silk with everything maxed. This game is sexy as hell.

Runs good on mine, not on the highest settings tho...1920x1200 screen takes lots of juice

Got everything cranked except AA on the system in my rig...

Game runs smooth as butter outside, but some places inside and in the area with the bar is just HORRIBLE performance. Slideshow right outside the bar. I have no idea why that particular area is so challenging.

Also, I can only get about 20 FPS for the first 10 minutes of any level...it seems to be loading the rest of the map during that time...VERY similar to the stutter bug in source, except much worse than HL2...we are talking 10 minutes at a time.

hopefully the next patch will resolve some of these issues.

Which drivers are you using and is it vista or xp? I've tried cranking the in game AA and nothing was changed whatsoever.

I've seen it run pretty awesome on my roommate's new rig 640MB 8800gts. :(

no this is false, there is NO AA in this game because of the engine used, and the shader method used. You can enable an AA type shader via the user.ltx file. check the tweak guide on http://www.tweakguides.com/

you can disable prefetch by adding "-noprefetch" (minus "") to the target in the shortcut. that should remove stutter from the game trying to load the entire zone into memory at once.

1920x1200, runs smooth on the default high settings. Haven't tried to tweak further.

Tried that. It works great for some levels, others it just turns them into a slideshow, because it loads all that shit in game. -noprefetch really just moves that loading time to in game as far as I can tell. I couldn't figure out why it got SO god damn choppy all of a sudden, then I removed the -noprefetch switch I added a few days before and all was well again.

I think its really hit or miss, and especially dependent on the map being played. Some maps benefit tremendously...but if you are in an area with many buildings and textures and everything...good luck.

You should be running 2gb of memory. Do that and your problems will go away. Your video card is plenty strong enough to run that game.

seems to provide great improvements all the time for me. Like others above had said, another gig may be in order :p
