The Official Shivering Isles Thread

Okay, just loaded up a save of mine and snapped two pictures. Both are indeed on the same Isle and can be entered at any time. Difference shot (warning: shows parts of SI):
Mania
Dementia

That Dementia screenie reminds me of Morrowind.

Hopefully I'll be picking up a copy today... would've got one last night but the local best buy apparently decided to start closing at 8 instead of 9 at some point.

There is no actual line. It uses a transition: the landscape looks more and more dead and the sky gets darker and darker (or the other way around for Mania). This is Sheogorath's realm and he is the daedric prince of madness, so it only suits him to have it this way.

Alright, thank you! ;)

One more question. Does the sky change as you move towards the other realm (like when you walk close to an Oblivion gate and the sky becomes on fire) or is there constant difference between the 2, if that makes any sense at all?

I really can't wait to get this expansion pack, 'too bad i'll have to wait until i build a new computer later this years since my laptop is barely up to playing stock Oblivion.

Yes, it is much like how it is for an Oblivion gate but at a slower rate. I can be half way in Mania before the sky is all the way changed back to what Mania uses. It is very nicely done. Now stop spoiling all the fun for yourself! :p

I find that SI runs smoother than Oblivion since it uses less trees, among being smaller altogether. I suppose not having any of Qarl's textures help as well. :)

Hmm, in that case i guess i could use it on my laptop until i get a new computer; i mean, i'm going to get it then anyway. It's just hard to enjoy the game when it's running on an ATI 9700 at about 15fps. :(

Wow, I am really loving the improvements to the distant LOD terrain in the new 1.2 patch/Shivering Isles. It looks much better from a distance and transitions a LOT better as you move towards it.

For those of you who played Morrowind, i did come across the Fork of Horipilation. I picked it up right away, though i'm sure it's just as useless as always.

Just so you know, there's a beggar in Crucible that is looking for it...
:)

Yeah i found him, he was entertaining.

If you have a high acrobatics skill, try exploring the rooftops of Crucible. There are a few interesting things up there.

Bah, I'm sure you can make better ones than those. :p But, you're welcome.

Has anyone hit Sheogorath? It's hilarious. :D

Yup, it was awesome. Even went back for seconds. I wouldn't expect any less from him. Quite a character.

Some of these dungeons are pretty nutty. And huge too! In fact, they're too big, i think. After a while i'm ready to get out and see the countryside again, but some are one way, so you just have to keep slogging through until you get out on the other side.

I entered one, found what looked like a shrine with a button. I pressed the button. The floor opened up underneath me and i fell for what felt like forever until i finally landed in a pool of water with a few nasty beasts waiting for me. It reminded me of Lord of the Rings when Gandolf and the balrog are falling and fighting each other at the same time. Except it was just me falling.

Then there's the family crypt that's filled with traps every other step and dead family members with letters and journals detailing what went wrong. Apparently they weren't where they thought they were.

It's about damn time... (screenshots)

Gonna pick this up this weekend probably

Anyone finish this game yet? Took me 15 hours playtime, a lot faster than I expected. I started out at level 35 and ended at almost 38.

Any of you that beat the game yet remember killing the SPOILER....

character named Tzzird in there? Was there ever a background story for that NPC? I was thinking I just clicked through the dialogue too fast. It was neat killing an NPC that had the same name as me.

Anyone read the tombstones in the graveyard yet? Some are pretty hilarious. :p

loved the expansion pack but i thought it ended wayyy to quickly.
the new relms r amazing and the new characters seem alot more life like then befor.

you can immeditly tell the difference between the shiviring isles and cyridel(how ever its spelled).

SPOILER WARNING
you can play threw the game twice and have two completely different experiences because u have to basicly pick to be good of evil.
END

its amazing, im going to go play right now :).

My entire quest history was erased with shivering Isles, I have everything else, but my quest history is toast.... I can go back and kill all of the mythical dawn dudes before the emperor is killed. Even all of the NPCs think the emperor is still alive. I guess I am going to start over and kill everything that I missed the first time through...
