I am getting ready for my new build and I need help choosing a power supply. The specs are:

c2d e6400 (prob go to the quad core when price cut hits)
ABIT Fatal1ty FP-IN9
2x g.skill 2gb pc800
2x 250 seagate sata II drives (raid 0)
EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB (maybe a second but I doubt it)
2x dvd+rw (still deciding on which ones)
Antec 900 case
Vista Ultimate (x64)

I am debating the corsair 620hx but its pretty pricey. Anything thats still good but more reasonable?

Howdy. The HX620 is a fantastic PSU. As for price, it is $125 shipped after MIR at Buy.com right now. That's a very fair deal in my view. In January, my Antec died on me and it toasted my computer. Now, I am of the opinion that the PSU purchase should not be an area of savings, so to speak. But, at $125, not too many better deals out there that I can think of. Same price at ZZF, BTW. Rebate appears to end on 3/31.

Hope this helps.

I just got the power supply in 2 days ago. WOW it is nice. Has to be the nicest power supply I have ever owned.

Yeah, I feel the same about mine. Cannot even hear it in my rig. What I can hear is my HD accessing from time to time, such a dramatic difference from my old rig. Since my last PSU died and took the mobo with it, I am glad to have one that I never have to think about again. I think Corsair will have a lot of happy people with this one.
