I have always kind of had this problem but now it has driven into overdrive here. My internet comes to a full stop almost and lots of web pages dont load. So I have to unplug my modem and wireless router twice a day for 30 seconds. Now there should be no reason why I should have to do this so often or at all, any suggestions?
Thank you

This has always been a problem with me, and it has been with all ISP's but never this bad. For some reason it has just decided to pick up. I have a motorola internet thing, and I'm using a Linksys Wireless router. Anyone with a solution? Thanks

Which router do you have? the specific model I mean. And what do you mean by "motorola internet thing"?

best thing to do is go to your manufactures website and check for your wifi card updates. I have the samething happen. And it not the connection cause i can use a pcmcia card and get full speeds.

Your right I have a motorola Cable Modem, and a WRT54G Linksys wireless Router. I'm getting sick of having to restart everything twice a day when there should be no need for this. Any help would be great, thank you.

I had the same problem with my linksys, you need to keep them cool. Get it in a well ventilated area, if that isn't good enough, point a desk fan on it.

It does not feel warm in anyway so I dont think that is the issue.

I've also had to reload the firmware on occasion. If you have one of the linksys's that can take the dd-wrt firmware, I'd use it.

My router does the same thing, it just gets too hot and decides to quit on me, sometimes several times a day, but not everyday.

The quick and easy solution to an overheating router is to have a fan blow on it.

Many home class routers are prone to freeze ups if too much data is pulled on them at once. I noticed this with a unit we have at our office which acts as a temporary router sometimes. This is some mobile-card Linksys unit that we used when the main router is being updated. This main router is a business class Linksys RV016.

At home, this is the reason I use a Linksys RV042 business class router as I cant stand the weak processors and memory on many of the home class units. My RV042 NEVER freezes or hangs up from too much data.

I also had an issue in the past with a Belkin Pre N router that couldnt hold cable or dsl connections steady and had trouble with the IP renewal request that most always-on services need to go through every 3 days or so.

You get what you pay for, I guess :( Still holds true in computing, in every aspect.

If you don't pull much data, you shouldnt have to be dealing with this sort of issue. A firmware update should fix it, or worst case, a total replacement by Linksys. Most linksys products are covered by a three yr warranty so make use of it and get yours RMAed!
