Hello all,
I have been trying to get together a list of Important software that I should probably have on hand as I go to computer and network repair/ installation jobs. This is a list that will be incase my lappy is not at the site with me at that time.

Putty
Smart Draw 7 or newer
Portable Firefox
g4u 2.3
Windows 98 CD
windows 2000 CD
Windows ME (dont ask) CD
Windows XP,2003,and now vista
Raw Copy
Memtest86
ProcessExplorer
unlocker1.8.5
UBCD3.4
CCleaner
Key Finder (finds office and windows keys)
spybot
AVG Free
Unstopable copy
cute writer
Soft Perfect File recovery
ZAR Zero Assumption Recovery

That is all that i have at this moment, any other thoughts? I am working on a windows hot fix and SP disk so that when or IF I have to wipe a pc it doesn't have to d-load the hot fixes and SP.

If you work on printers at all I would keep the PDF service manuals handy. I carry them on a CF card for my PDA so that I can refer to them on-site if I need to. Most of the information I know, but occasionally I have to work on one that I haven't seen in a while and I can't remember how to get into the service manual.

Hope this helps.

Just posted about this in another thread but...

BackTrack 2.0 is out as of today, and for Wi-Fi network auditing and troubleshooting, there simply is no better tool available. And it's free.

www.remote-exploit.org for more info and the downloads...

it does everything the full licensed version does. you can clean/delete/quarantine/rename infected files. After 30 days you can't get updates.

If you can afford it get Winternals Admin Pak.

I have it and use it all of the time. They were recently bought out by M$ so I can't say if the change is good as I still have the older version. But it has save me several times onsite. Espically being able to reset the admin password on a machine.

Also, Solarwinds.net has a lot of good utilities and free utilities as well.
