Well, wtf then.. We had an Incredible Universe in the Denver area about 10 or 12 yeas ago... and they closed up and became......... a furniture store called The Great Indoors or something...
A Fry's would give our local Microcenter a little competition.. sure would be nice.
Stopped by one today...most all the discounts were 5-10%
Got a good BNS out of your post. It basically turned into a HDTV/cell phone/digicam emporium, miniature Best Buys with worse prices. Still kind of disheartened to see the one in Burbank go, it's at the top of a multi-tiered parking structure that had a nice view. It was the second store to open in the area besides Ikea, went there plenty of times before the Fry's went in. The one in Glendale didn't even get off the ground because they only just bought out The Good Guys a year or so ago. Wonder what's going to go in their places. I've a feeling it'll be some Armenian cuisine joints.I think it is really sad that the "computer superstore" that CompUSA claims to be does not even sell items like blank DAT/DLT tapes, or other higher-end products in demand for businesses. Ask a CompUSA employee for something like a managed switch with fiber-optic uplink ports and their heads kind of explode. "Sorry sir, we don't have that, but I would be happy to show you this hi-def TV I know nothing about."
Not sorry to see them go. Looks like I am losing all 3 locations near me in eastern PA, and I will not shed a tear for the company, or any of the employees being shown the door.
