Want to enable remote desktop access for user on Win2k Server, but how? I've been playing around with it for a while now and I can't seem to find a good tutorial on Google or Yahoo.

Can someone post a quick fix or link me to a good tutorial on Win2k Server?

Thanks!!!

In Win2k its not called Remote Desktop, it's Terminal Services. I'm assuming you are doing this for remote administration otherwise there are licensing concerns.

In Add/Remove programs go into Add Windows components and add Terminal Services. When asked select Remote Administration mode. I think a reboot is required, but otherwise that should be it.

We do have terminal services enabled. But, when I created the user and trying to use RD to connect, I get the following error:

"The local policy of this system does not permit you to logon interactively"

Any ideas?

I know for a fact it's simple... I hate myself for not knowing this :(

Go edit the user's account on the server. There should be a lot of tabs for many things. One of these tabs allows the user to use TS.

you need to either logon as administrator or give the user admin rights OR edit the default domain security policy to allow that user to login to the server via remote desktop

Depending on your configuration, simply add the user to the local "remote desktop" or "terminal server" group of the terminal server.

There is no need to grant admin permissions or change group policies.

why do you want to do this?

if its for them to give you support then setup a VPN and use VNC.

Well VNC is a third party software, you never know they will be watching you :)
