This may not be the most accurate way to show results but I think these results are pretty amazing none the less.

I had PQI 5400 @667mhz running at 4-4-4-12 and my super pi score was 18sec

I now have Corsair 6400@800mhz running 5-5-5-15 and my super pi score is 14sec

I had always thought that tight timings would be more efficent in a program like SuperPi and the added bandwidth wouldn't make a huge diff.

Clearly bandwidth has more effect than timing. This is nearly a 20% improvement. Granted I know this isn't the most scientific test but it does seem pretty amazing that there is that much improvement. Or I am just missing something.

Is that with the setup you have in your signature? If so I CAN'T WAIT until my components come in :D

you don't get a 4 second difference from changing the memory speed, i promise. both cases had identical cpu clock, and no programs were running in the background? ;)

This is actully with a new build I ditched the 680i and went with P5W DH just haven't updated.

Programs where the same I'm sure of that there were 25 process running in the background this time and I'm 95% sure that what it was with the PQI.

The other thing I thought it might be is that I'm still not convinced the PQI wasn't deffective all along which I'm guessing could scew the results. I RAM'd the PQI so i cant retest to double check.

The CPU speeds are the same I had the FSB at 333. Just passed Orthos overnight going for 3.2 today :)

Super Pi 1M is a trivially small benchmark. Half of it runs inside of your 4MB cache.

Try the Super Pi 32M instead if you want to see what difference memory speeds and timings make.

Personally, with an e6400 @ 3.2 and ram at 800 4-4-4-12, I only pull off ~18s on a p965 chipset. I'd guess to venture that the extra 2mb comes in handy for the 1mb test? Not to mention the benefits of the i975x :)
