Does the xtreme music version support some type of digital out or am I stuck with the three headphone cables as output? If so can I buy that expansion module (cheap?)?

Thanks

Well, Would say grab the module becasue you have both Optical and Coax to work with.
The info states the card has a digital out as it's compatible with the Digital I/O module.

The info is at the bottom. The modules are very cheap and good quality. I know on a AUdigy 2 you can just use a mini jack to stereo RCA cable to get digital output I am not sure if it would work with the X-fi. IF you have one of these cables around you can test it out though..

Xtreme Music supports 2Ch Digital out and Bypass to an external source of only Certain material. One of the highlights is support for 24-96 Digital Direct, Stereo and Bit Matched output.

I added the five and a Quarter inch Drive bay to mine almost a year later. The $14 module adds another port and works with the X-Fi XM.

Where did you find it for $14? Everywhere I looked it was $75+

yep.. almost bought that myself but it was out of stock at the time..

I snagged one from the Creative Ebay store and missed the entire out of stock routine. ;)

the gray module wont really do anything unless you really need optical

your best bet is to get a digital coaxial cable and a rca - mono 1/8th adapter from radioshack

the cable doesnt really matter, since all you're sending is 1's and 0's.. as long as it gets to the other end the same, it will sound just as good as anything else

I am curious... how many of those "1's and 0's" do you think gets transmited across the cable every second?

well mr. x, i know your a well respected head-fi member... BUT

that sounded kinda rude to me...

Does a 100 dollar ethernet cable work better then a 20 dollar one?
