So who is picking this up tomorrow... and who is picking it up soley for the Halo 3 Beta...? I know im picking it up though... mostly for the game though.

The demo made me really excited to pick this up and play the whole game. Unfortunately I have been deterred by some reviews. I believe I may leave this one to a rental. I enjoyed jumping from building to building finding the upgrades the most but feel I would become fairly bored with it once those skills are maxed.

Edit: However it does build some excitement to see where sandbox games are headed. I think Saint's Row was better than San Andreas and believe Crackdown is better than Saint's Row. Hopefully with the success of these games we will have a little explosion of development similar to what happened with MMOs.

I reserved it. I like Co-op games, so me and my friend will be playing this online. I got a call from Gamestop that said they are doing a midnight launch event and that I can go pick it up tonight @ 11:00 so I will be doing that. I heard it gets repetative, but cant get much worse then grand theft auto, and that was still major fun :)

buying it, was planning to buy it before the halo beta was announced with it.

I'll be getting this, don't know if it will be tommorow.

I pre-ordered it from Amazon.com. Never pre-ordered something from there, and I hope I get it tomorrow.

My reasoning for the purchase of this game is divided, into fourths.

1/4 - it's a co-op game. Rock on.
1/4 - It's wicked fun
1/4 - It will be fun to beta test the H3 mp.
1/4 - I have giftcards and Reward certificates and a coupon at Best Buy.

Shoot, it seems like a ton of people are digging Crackdown. Maybe it'll even break some sales records.

I pre-ordered it, at first just for the Halo 3 beta now after playing the demo Im hooked.

GameTrailers gave it a 7.5, which sounds about right to me. I've already spent enough time on the demo to have gotten my money's worth if I had already bought the game.

However, the full-game doesn't offer anything more either. Just a larger city to play in, with more races. The bosses are irrelevant since there's just normal hoods that just require you to hold the trigger down a bit longer. This game is entirely focused around the sandbox element.

However, the sandbox element is fantastic, and it was enough to get me to pre-order.

Not really excited about the Halo3 beta. The series has never impressed me. I still think they're good games, it's just that Halo doesn't really stand out except amongst console games. So I'll give it a spin and probably buy that too when it comes out, but I don't really care when it comes.

Played it and ended it already (Xbox360) and i didn't like it that much at all. To me it seem like a half thoughtout GTA clone. But this is my opinion only.

I liked Saints Row much more than this demo. (I played the demo before I ever tried Saints Row and ended up buying Saints Row) I believe many others would feel the same way if they had as well.

i bought it already went to my local wal-mart at 11:30 and picked up my copy.

I was hoping to get some type of slip of paper with a key for the h3 beta so i could either sell it or burn it... as i have no plans on ever playing halo ever...

I beat the game about a week ago on Co-Op. Seriously the most fun I've had since Dead Rising. Even though I've beat the game, it still has a lot of replayability, I've been going back into to do the various challenges, and time trials against the bosses. This game easily stands on it's own two feet, don't let the Halo 3 Beta offer fool you into thinking it's just average.

I am purchasing an xbox 360 so that I can play this game and other sandbox games in the future. GTA IV is coming around at the end of the year hopefully and its coming to 360 & PS3.

I'll probably pick this up sometime in the summer. I figure by then I'll be getting too into Supreme Commander, and will want a break.

Game in hand. The Walmart near my work didn't even have it on the shelf yet. The kid at the register dug a box out from under the counter. Now if only I could get the clock to move faster...... After the demo I'm really anxious to check it out.

Got mine, couldn't buy one for my roommate like he asked, he didn't get a pre-order:\ Looks like he'll have to wait.

Gonna go give it a spin after work+gym and post back if my opinions have changed any since the demo.

got mine @ circuit city and got a $20 halo faceplate for free, had to stop by and cancel my pre-order at EB...

I thought they'd have my Supreme Commander too, but i wasn't too disappointed cause I got to play Crackdown...

It's pretty sweet, I didn't like the demo TOO much, but now that I'm playing the actual game I feel like there's so much to achieve...

it's great, the slower pace of leveling really makes things harder. I tried to run out ape shit like I did in the demo and got my ass handed to me a few times...

So far I've taken out like 3 of the guys on one faction, it's entertaining, can't wait to co-op.

One of the aspects of the game I've most enjoyed is that it rewards whatever play style you choose. If you like to go guns blazing, your firearms skill will increase faster, and you become more effective with guns. If you like to jump from rooftop to rooftop, your agility skills increase and soon you can jump even farther and run faster. Maybe you like to melee, punching and kicking your opponents, doing so causes you to get stronger, allowing you to do and take more damage.

You can also skill up multiple areas by doing things such as shooting enemies while mid-air in jump, you will gain both firearms and agility skill for the one kill.

Even though you can access the entire city all at once (unlike some other sandbox games such as the GTA series) it really is meant for you to follow the path of Los Muertos, Volk, and Shai Gen because each is progressively more difficult. In fact there are some Shai Gen Supply Points and Boss areas that you can't even get to until your agility is at a certain level because you simply can't jump high enough to gain access.

Then there is the near constant Easter Egg hunt for Agility Orbs and Special Orbs. After a while you begin to know where to look, the top of anything tall becomes obvious, and there are lots to be found out on the rocks and coves of the island shores. And what's cool is that you aren't just hunting for these for the sake of having them (though you do earn achievements for getting all of them) because each one adds to your skill and helps you progress in the game.

All told, I'm really happy with this game. I sort of dismissed it after playing the demo, but once I got the full game, and particularly after playing co-op, I was totally hooked.

Been playing it for awhile, I really enjoy it. I spent a good 2 hours just collecting agility orbs. So addicting. XBL co-op sounds like a lot of fun.

beat los muertos with a buddy coop tonight, the time flew by insanely fast and I had a blast the whole time. coop was lag free and no hiccups.

Ok, I had more fun than I did in the demo(and I played that demo to death).

I took about an hour to get level 3 agility, in the same area as the demo. And yet, I had so much more fun than I did in the demo just because the leveling progress was slower so I felt like those green orbs were something valuable to chase, so I cleaned out the Los Muertos area of orbs before I got started on killing gangsters.

Driving and racing was more enjoyable since I didn't have to dread the end of the 30-minute timer. I found myself going through all the races in the demo again, just because I wanted a better finish time. Something I appreciate about Crackdown is that the travel controls are fantastic. At first you're slow and a bit awkward since it's a fairly uncommon form of travel in games, but after awhile you'll be sailing through the skies with ease. As mentioned in the developer interview with IGN, their goal was to keep the player from having to stop and they did an incredible job with the level design. There's enough ledges and paths to get to where you can figure out your next jump before you touch down, making roof hopping a seamless experience with practice.

Driving controls depend heavily on the car and your driving skill level. The SUV handles fantastic, the Agency car is quite good, and the rest is well, crap. But you don't really need to get into other cars since the Agency cars don't just handle better, they're incredibly durable. But Driving is an optional thing, you drive because you want to drive, it's rare that you find yourself driving in order to get somewhere except on highways between islands. For the most part you'll just jump your way over and skip the roads. The city has a matchless amount of vertical landscape, so driving won't get you to many of the places you'll need to go(You can throw or carry your car to some of these places if you like though, had some fun hurling my friend in his car over walls to get him past ungainly terrain).

Guns, still useless, not even particularly fun in my opinion. I just end up with the shotgun since it's the only gun that manages to kill fast enough to keep up with your pace. The grenade launcher is great, but it belongs to the explosives skill not the shooting skill. Explosives are great fun. They're the real ranged damage in this game. Enemies tend to attack after driving up in cars or waiting around in packs of 3-4. They're pretty much begging to get blown up as a group.

It should be obvious that this game has nothing in common with GTA besides having guns(useless), and cars(unnecessary), and they're both...in a city? Comparisons are quickly drawn up primarily because this game came from the same hand that spawned the 2d top-down GTA game. This is done for PR purposes since this studio would otherwise be a newcomer. But if you weren't aware of who spawned this game(difficult, considering this game is hardly ever mentioned without the developer's past being trotted out), then GTA would not be nearly as important as a reference point.

The games that Crackdown compare to are:

Superstrong, superleaping, wall-crawling, free-roaming, open-map missions, rooftop racing, good-guy angle, cel-shaded, etc. etc.

Possibly this game as well.

also IHUD is awesome

really good

they should...no NEED to make a sequel on the 360

This game is so much freaking fun. It feels like something from the Matrix what with all the super jumping and stuff.

Lovin it.

I'm amazed at how many people love this game. Sucks that I'm in the minority, wish I liked it. lol Is the full game like the demo as far as you run/drive around town and you constantly have bullets flying at you from all directions? That was the dumbest thing I ever saw for this type of game. I don't know, maybe the lack of a decent game since GoW has gotten to people.

how did you beat it a week ago if it was just now released on tuesday and was not released before then....

Same here. $45 if gc and a $10 of coupon. Heck of a deal.

I like the game enough that I'd give away the Halo3 beta thing (if I could)...I'm not so into Halo anymore and even less into MP FPS.

at any rate, its fun and I dig it. Not every game has to be 100% ground breaking to be entertaining...

I just got a 360 and was looking for a new game to get. I got my 360 on Saturday with Gears of War and my roommate and I beat it in 2 sittings on split screen co-op.
I was thinking of getting this but like Kelbear says it seems like Spiderman with a gun. It does look fun though. Something outside of the first person tactical shooters that seem to be so popular.
For those of you that have played it for a while or beat it... How long does it take to play through the campaign? Not really getting all the secrets and achievements but just beating it.
Also, is it really as easy as it looks in the videos? I like a game where I might actually die a few times on a hard part.
