Upgrading Mac Mini Intel memory

So I'm pricing around for the Mini I'm looking to buy. At Macmall the upgrade from 512 to 1G is a whopping $200, which includes *professional installation* whatever that is, and the caveat:"Memory is not user-installable". Can that be true? That can't be true. Can someone please clarify? Thanks...

Well, it's not "user friendly" to install, but it can be done. There's a whole guide about how to take it apart here

Edit: And if you want more ram you should just order it from Apple since they don't have to reopen the case to install ram like Macmall. Also, it's even cheaper if you use the educational discount.

Edit 2: I checked Apple's website, and you can get a 1.83 for $847 with 1gb of ram ($68 upgrade) or with 2gb of ram for $1004 ($225 upgrade) with edu. discount.

Shit if you really didn't want to do it you can always take the thing to an apple store or compusa and have them do the memory upgrade.

Most of the time they will do it with customer supplied memory as long as the memory is new and unopened.

Anyway with compusa it costs like 30 bucks for them to do the install.

Mind you it is not that hard to do yourself.

I've taken many desktops apart, but this looks like a job for someone else. What a pain. Best plan will be to get it with the right memory pre-installed. Thanks for the tips...
