So.. I need a TV for my new apartment tomorrow... yes.. tomorow. I was thinking of going out and buying the NS-30HTV Insignia (Best Buy brand) TV tomorrow. And then in a couple months when I have money get something bigger and move that one to my bedroom..

It's within my price range and has what I want (digital tuner, 480p, 1080i, component inputs).

Is there anything else that might be good that I could pick up at a local store (Best Buy, Circuit city, Ultimate Electronics, CompUSA)?

Like I said above, it needs to have at least 480p, 720 or 1080, component inputs, HDTV tuner. Under ~$800 please..

thanks :)

How big are ya lookin for? I was at Best Buy today and saw a very nice Westinghouse (it was either 27" or 30" ..maybe 32"), HD (720p/1080i), and was about $650 if I recall.

Something in that price range :p

27" to whatever.. widescreen if possible

Here it is, at my store there was one on sale a little cheaper (could either be an in store sale or maybe it was just open item). 27" HD LCD, HDMI.. great looking TV. Great price, too. Considering one of these myself.

Yup, was just looking at that after your post :p thanks, looks like something I might take.. Seems to be getting good reviews everywhere.

Does anyone know how a Wii is going to look on this? I hear it could look bad on LCD's..

I use my Wii on a 32" Westy and it looks pretty nice, although noticeably upscaled. My component cable just came in today, and things look soo crisp and rich. Conveniently I beat the end of Zelda today as well, on my shiny new cables.

Cool, I think I have my next tv.. Already have component cables for my Wii so I'm all set. :). Thanks for helping me with this.
Btw, it looks like Bestbuy is doing a free upscaling DVD player with any HDTV. :p

if you have a microcenter near you they have a few 32" LCD sets for the 550-700 range.

I have a 32in Westy and could not be more happy with for what it cost, Robert Heron from dl.tv reviewed and said he could not think of a better tv that comes close in price.....

Perhaps a little late but I would recommend the 32" sceptre for $599 from Costco.com. I don't think there is any better set for the price.

Thanks for the help guys :) I stopped at Best Buy and went with the 32" Westing House Widescreen.. Was in store at the same price as the 27" was so why not :)

The only thing I didn't like is I didn't get the free upscaling DVD player with it.. They insisted it was online only and it's not free as you have to pay shipping.. even after I mentioned it let you do in store pickup for it..

Oh well, still got the TV for a great price and I love how it looks. Now I just need to find a local place that has cheap component cables (need 3) and 2 or 3 optical cables..

any ideals? ;)

Most local places sell cables with tremendous markups. If you are able to buy them online then most here would probably recommend Monoprice.

While you're there you could also pick up some hdmi cables to bring out the best of that new TV ;)
