Nvidia's cascade

I sure hope they aren't going to use that as a selling point, because any one worth their salt will not be running that combination. Vista is a horrid gaming platform at current. I would however enjoy seeing a video of it just to see what the cards can crank out.

MS believe and extols the PC as a prime gaming platform. It is not Vista's fault or Microsoft's. The drivers suck but they are improving. I am actually tired of talking XP vs Vista. XP is dead, and time to move on. It will mature as a gaming platform.

Funny, using my 8800GTS and the 100.64 drivers, I am getting great gaming performance on Vista. I am getting better FPS in some games than I was in XP, and any games that lost a step, it was a tiny, tiny loss, no more than 1-2 FPS. This is all on DX9 as well, which isn't even a good indicator of Vista as a gaming platform. DX10 will be that indicator.

Yea but look at your PC, anyone with a substandard pc that runs things good on xp, will of COURSE have worse performance in vista. vista takes up a ton of ram an processing power. if you have your rig of course its goin to be good, but the fact is most people dont have that kind of rig to run vista + new games.

Key word...WILL BE. It isnt, and for now Vista is a crappy OS. Its NT6.0 therefore being a small evolution of XP. They are technically the same OS, both index files, both still use DLL and registry and both are terribly unreliable OSs. The only added perk of Vista > XP is Aero which is an inferior compositing interface to Quartz Extreme. XP is not dead, its just that Vista is such a terrible OS that people A. Dont want to move on or B. Have used Vista and went back to XP(me). Until driver support matures, until PVR apps work, until notepad is fixed in vista, until the damn SP1 comes out that fixes the 3million bugs that are in it, I am not going back to Vista.

On the other hand, the screenshots from the demo look impressive, I wonder what else DX10 can do.

no, you have no idea what you are talking about AT ALL. please spill your fud elsewhere, most of the forum is well informed about what vista is, and to not be and to talk in a manner such as how you just have is not accepted

qft... I haven't got to vista yet, but I believe you are right

Have you read anything about Vista at all?

This statement is wholly inaccurate.

Yeah, time to shift through the anti-MS propaganda. Some people just badnwagon, and I am not saying you are. There is a lot of crap about Vista. It is by no means perfect, but it is a superior computing experience to XP.

I use Linux, own 2 Macs, and a PC. I love them all. I am not on one side or the other. To me, each platform has its redeeming qualities, and I use them as I see fit and try to exploit each of theri strengths for my needs.

Funny how people bitched about XP not looking as nice as OSX, yet when they implement OSX-like tech like Aqua and Dashboard, everyone claims it is a ripoff. Duh, but I can enjoy that now on my Vista platform.

They all copy from each other.

Yes, DX10 is integrated in Vista, all versions... no need to install it.
