Three weeks ago when I was researching parts for my next build the Freezer 7 Pro was $29 at Newegg.

Two weeks ago when I purchased my parts, it was $49.

Today, when I go to write a review on it, it's $90!

WTF

The Freezer 64 Pro is also $80!!!!! SHIT. Newegg, what the fuck is your problem? I bought one of those for my Opteron 165 about 3 months ago for $19 BRAND NEW.

yea, that's ridiculous... now I have to move my option to the Zalman 9500 or 9700 (dependant on what will fit in my case).

    O. M. F. G. i wouldnt have believed this if i hadnt seen it with my own eyes. WTF is going on over there?!?!?!?

I have noticed that its price on newegg has been jumping around a lot lately, but ninety dollars comes as a big shock as I haven't looked at the cooling section for a day or two:eek:

damn..thank goodness I bought mine when I did.
I only payed $14.99 from Newegg about a month ago :D

I totally agree with Arcygenical; dynamic pricing indeed.

Their like $24.99 at Xoxide.

*sigh* supply and demand...

this is the new revision for curious people who want to experience being raped without the risk of a sexually transmitted disease.

I also like how newegg says "limit 2 per customer." As if getting ripped off twice wasn't bad enough. Thanks newegg for limiting me.

lol.. safe rape. get it while it's hot. lol

limit 2 per customer ??? ....cant think of anybody stupid enough to buy even one for that price !!!

it's dynamic pricing like css...just like CSS without checks and balances. in fact, it's price gouging! :( i miss newegg ALWAYS being the cheapest

wow. are the effing retarded? they must have like a tumor in their collective heads to expect that to sell for 80 bucks. i can buy it locally for 20 canadian. this is making me laugh

lol.. for the price of three of them you could get a full on koolance exos-2. :p

Less than a week ago, they had the oem version for like $14. I bought mine for xoxide because they were cheaper for the retail version and I didn't see the oem version when I was ordering my parts.

What's different about this revision from the regular AC Freezer 7 Pro?

I'm gonna start buying at clubit.com more if this keeps up. I paid $25 for mine last August from New Egg.

Spend a little more and get a water-cooling system for that price, the Arctic is known to be a good cheaper cooler that performs as well as $50 coolers, not anything insanely good for overclocking though it will let you push temps a bit more than stock.

glad I got mine when it was $30 lol. Seriously though this is borderline shady on neweggs part.

Back up to $80. Wierd.
Why would anyone buy that over a Zalman?

I would because of the "normal" price and the ease of installation. Uses the regular push pin style retention which takes 30 seconds and can be done without removing the motherboard.

When the price is $25-30, it's the best cooler in that price range AFAIK. Once you start moving up into the $40-50 range, there is a lot more competition from Zalman, Scythe, etc.

The price is at $80 for the retail version, but newegg will sell an 'open box' one for $14 + shipping. If you wait a couple of days, it might get bumped to free shipping. I got an open box Freezer 64 Pro a couple of weeks ago for $12 w/ free shipping, it hadn't been used but had a couple of slightly bent fins at the bottom which took about 10 seconds to straighten.

Well, I think $25-30 is the "normal" going price for the Freezer 7 Pro. It seems the Freezer 64 pro is a little cheaper (maybe $5). $14+ shipping isn't too bad if you want to take a chance on open box. A few bent fins for you isn't too bad, but I've heard of some people getting them with fans that rub bent fins, and I wouldn't want to deal with that.

I will sell you one for $55 ;) :p

Newegg must have gotten VERY low on stock of these things I guess :)

I saw this thread yesterday, quite amusing I think, they're throwin' the price around like a ragdoll :p I was almost considering buying one 'til I came across the excellent deal I did on my Scythe Ninja. It's at $60 as I'm posting right now. Probably gonna be $120 tomorrow

*EDIT*
My bad. I was thinkin' it said Freezer64. Still, last I'd checked the Freezer64 Pro was around $25...

I use AM2 so it took less than a minute, I guess Socket 775 might be a different issue.

Its pretty funny to read all these posts slamming Newegg. Its just a hsf you can buy that anywhere. It doesn't have to be just Newegg so if you feel the price is outrageous there is nothing forcing you to buy it from them. Bottom line is no other place can touch Newegg for returns and RMA's and thats why people still buy from them. And from the sounds of things you really have to mess up a component for them not to take it back. I hear stories about people buying open box items with pieces hanging off there vid cards, etc...

Neweggs pricing isn't what it once was no doubt. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that its there RMA policy driving up costs. They aren't going to just eat that loss. The cost is being pass on to potential new buyers. And even still they do have the lowest prices on some items. And they do get some great exclusive rebates that you can only get on Newegg purchases.

I just built a new rig and had to RMA the mobo and PSU. I could have bought both of them elsewhere for less. As it turns out my RMA was turned around insanely quick. And thats why I'll continue to purchase from Newegg.

I gotta say they are a damn good company. I called yesterday because they sent me a regular sd card instead of the micro sd card that I ordered, and the lady said "just keep it".
It may have been a fairly cheap item, but it still could have gone a lot worse for me with a different company. *cough tigerdirect *cough

QTF. Even though I started this thread, 90% of my computer parts come from Newegg.
