Win Mobile 5.0. No Desktop?

Am I missing something here or does Mobile 5.0 not have a desktop?
I'm running 5.1.13 and just got this GPS unit at work. Our old CE device has a desktop where I can put shortcuts to documents on so that people can get easy access to them.

This new one, apparently does not. I'm still installing my GPS software on here, but is there no desktop? If not, is there an easy place to store docs that people can get with like 1 click to find them? Is there way to add a custom menu to the start menu, maybe to a folder where these docs are stored?

Having people click through a few windows to get to 1 doc is just too much extra work when they probably have never used a mobile device before.

Bumping this in case anyone has any ideas.

i know that on my treo 700w there is no desktop. You either access the files through the program that uses them (i.e. word or excel), or you access them through the file manager.
