HELP!!! got a new case *nzxt Apollo* put everything in it, didn't drop a thing and was very careful. went to boot her up and got mad artifacts on screen to the point of almost being unreadable. it would boot to windows but the problem still occurred. i rebooted and to my horror, i had no picture. tested it on another monitor, had no picture. horrified, i took everything out of the case and powered up still not picture. its a evga 7900gs ko and is only about 2 months old (a little less). any tips on what new card to buy ( on a serious 100 $ or less budget) newegg preferably

CPU = Athlon x2 4400+
Mobo = ECS kn1 extreme
RAM = 1 gb of ddr 400 dual channel
PSU 430 watt thermaltake silent psu
80 gig ide hd
Video = recently deceased (i think) evga 7900gs ko

First, one question: are you sure it's the card? Does the system run fine with a different card? Lacking another card to test with, when you power it up, does it beep, access the hard disk, play your startup sound, etc. like normal? I've seen scenarios where a short circuit makes the motherboard freak out, and it won't boot until you reset the CMOS. It costs you nothing to try that.

If the card is actually dead (see if you can arrange to test the card on a completely separate, 100% working computer), the card should be covered under warranty - it's possible that the card's death coinciding with changing the case was merely random chance (correlation != causation, and all that).

Could also be that your Tt power supply isn't up to the task...

Never been a fan of thermaltake power supplies..

nah because the psu is the same from the old case in which it was working. i have had it diagnosed and yes, its the video card. cant return because i have no serial # because i took the sticker off the card and mailed the one on the box iin for rebate. any card suggestions. ( budget 256 bit)

Um. RMA it?

My thoughts exactly, or return it if the place you purchased it at has a 90-day return policy (most stores only have 30, but can't hurt to try.)

This is fairly common for the 7900's.

Call or email your manufacturer, and tell them why you don't have your sticker anymore. I'm sure they'll be happy to RMA it for you.
