Corsair HX520W 520w SLI

HX520W here for $96.95 and shipping.

I've bought from them before and very satisfied. Wish I'd found it here before I bought from the 'Egg on sale for $119.

i just orderd the HX520W from buy.com, 89.99 with free shipping + 10 rebate so itll come out to about 79.99 for a powersupply with some mighty specs. hopefully buy.com doesnt take there sweet old time shipping it too me since it was free shipping.

They drop ship it like most Corsair PSU vendors do, so it'll take just as long from them as almost anyone else.

newegg has shipped everything too me in 2-3 days always, in the past 3 years that I have been ordering from them. The last time I bought something from buy.com they took like week and a half to get me my Icemat Siberias. It does depend on the vendor.

Not when it comes to certain items... it does not.

Newegg has a lot of their components in stock. Those are items they will ship same business day the order is placed. This is becoming more and more rare as time goes by because margins are getting slimmer and product more diverse. I'd have to say Newegg, TigerDirect, Xoxide and ZipZoomFly are the only companies left that don't rely on JIT (just in time) inventory. But even then, I think the percentage of inventory that's in stock is about 80%, 70%, 60% and 50% respectively (look for items that say "in stock now" versus "ships in 24 hours" or "3 to 4 business days".)

I'm always surprised how much inventory Xoxide actually has in stock because the overhead has to be huge. Then again, they rely a lot on selling Mustang Hot Rod parts too. :D

Some resellers, even Newegg, will use a tier 1 distributor like D&H or ASI and drop ship your item from their warehouse. All the reseller has to do is put in the order with the disty and give them your address as a ship to. If there's a delay, it's because the disty doesn't have stock or sat on the order for whatever reason. It doesn't matter who you bought it from if everyone is drop shipping the item from the same warehouse. The delay will be the same. Buy.com, Amazon.com, RadioShack.com all fall into this category for about 75% of the product on their website.

Some resellers have no stock at all. Everything is drop shipped from the manufacturer. This is true with the smaller guys, but it allows the smaller guys to have better prices because they do not have to keep inventory, invest in packing materials, pay twice for shipping (although they don't get bulk shipping prices when only one item is being shipped to one destination, but it's still better than shipping from the manufacturer and then a second time to the customer.) Take xPCgear, for example. I ordered a Thermaltake PSU and a Kingwin PSU from them. The Thermaltake was drop shipped from ASI and the Kingwin was drop shipped from Kingwin. I chose xPCgear because they had the lowest price and their service is fascinating (the Thermaltake was on back order and they actually emailed me AND called me to tell me it would be a week and REFUSED to charge my CC until it was known to be in stock!!!)

Not to sound cocky, but because you have one experience with one item from one vendor doesn't mean you completely understand how the whole process works and what vendors ship in a timely fashion and which don't.

It doesn't ALWAYS depend on the reseller, but it does depend on the item and where it's shipping from. All the reseller is doing is determining the sell price, shipping and presenting it on their website.

i get stuff from newegg less than 20 hours after ordering unless its shipped from east coast buy.com well who knows save 10$ but wait who knows how long

That is one thing that does bug me about Newegg/ChiefValue. I'm on the East coast. I can usually tell what's in stock at Newegg and what's being drop shipped when I order it (helps to have friends in tier 1 that can tell you if they're drop shipping for Newegg or not too.) I assume it'll ship from the NJ warehouse and that I'll get it quicker, but no.... order's split up into two because not everything is in stock in NJ and it has to ship from Cali. :( Dammit. Makes me wish I just lived smack dab in the middle of the country.

Look again, that's $89 after rebate.

I ordered my HX620 from Buy.com and it is in transit, scheduled to arrive in a couple days. Plenty fast for the "budget" free shipping.

I've had good luck with them in the past... I've actually been ordering from them for many years on books and things. Hope your experience is good too. As for the Egg, they're simply awesome.

Another happy HX620 owner............ordered on 16.9.06 and arrived 2 days later.
I am in the UK if that makes any difference :D
It sure was a wise move after my Tagan 530W easycons experience...........had 3 of them and all faulty :(

Well I just ordered a HX520 to replace my aging Nuuo, and I feel I picked a good reliable unit. Good to know they have staff that is active here also. :)

I purchased a HX520W from buy.com this week with 3 day shipping it got here a day before my newegg order that was placed at about the same time.
