Corsair HX520W 520w SLI

try and find one with quad rails imo 90 is bit much for a 500w psu nowdays i just picked up a silverstone strider 600w modular for 75 and a zalman 600w heatpipe for 115 used.. and i now see they have dropped in price! both are very good but zalman is better.. here is link its going for 120 new at ewiz http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?p=PS...8fa38f2e9ba45bc3214bb60f553c73ce02d5edeb4e862
Zalman ZM600-HP is what i would choose for just a little more it has quad 12v rails silent and very stable

1. Quad rails aren't better than single rails. Depending onthe load, OCP may kick in, since there's not enough power going to the video card, while there's plenty from the others. Not so with single rails.

2. It's not just a 500w psu. Not all 500w psu's are made the same. The HX 520 has 40a on a single +12v rail. That's more than some 650w, even 700w's. And it's very high quality, silent, modular.. you can't go wrong

$94.99 is a great deal. buy.

I personally just bought the 620 watt version of the Corsair PSU. Just a "little" more future proof.

Damn thats a good price! I just paid 119 for my HX520 =\ oh well I am really happy with it.

would the HX520 Corsair be enough for 2x eVGA 8800 GTS's SLi? THanks

It won't be on the qualified list, but I'd say it will work fine as long as you don't have some stupidly huge number of hard drives.

I've personally run 8800GTXs in SLI with an HX520, which is pushing it a bit, but still within spec, provided I didn't go nuts on the overclocking and hard drives.

thanks guys.. I bought the 520 already and was contemplating whether i should get the Deluxe Asus P5BE or the regular one .. I'll go with Deluxe ;0

Does Corsair have a 1 800 # or something ? As I have been emailing them for about a month now,and have not heard back,on a case # I was given.

Tech Support Express Case [57512] - RMA Request Received. Its not for an RMA,but thats what I was forced to file it as,as my ps is fine,my prob is that the box was missing a cable.I have sent off three requests, since the 15th of Dec.That case number was the third one I was emailed.

msg Redbeard maybe you will have better luck! hard to believe you been waiting a MONTH for a simple cable.. i talked to vp at ocz about extra sata modular cables for sale and he replied very fast but said good idea not at this time yada yada..

I understand xmas just went down and all,so I am not pissed or upset, but starting to get
curious as to whats going on. :) I didnt see Redbeard around for a while posting,so I
figured he was on vacation was all.But when I saw him post the other day,I remembered the missing cable.

but buy.com sucks for shipping stuff on time and packaging.

That's honestly what is stopping me from ordering right now unless anyone has anything different to say. I just finished reading a horror story on here yesterday about someone and some parts and I honestly don't want to go through that.

Haven't ordered from buy.com in a couple years, so I can't speak for how they are now. Ordered stuff from them several times in the past and they use to be very good.

i've ordered things from buy.com recently and the only thing i can say is bad is the time it takes you to receive the item you ordered if you picked free shipping.

i purchased a X-Fi Xtreme Gamer for $50 after google checkout (was $20 off at the time, early december). it took nearly 2 weeks till i got the card. maybe the reason it took so long was it was a hot deal and they had to wait for shipments of it. before that i ordered some dvd+r's, those came in a week.

these were also my first buy.com experiances. all in all, i'm a satisfied customer. :)

back on topic:
if i were buying a new psu today, it would probably be either one of the corsair's.

Update : 3:32 pm 1 24 2007

Fedex just left, and I now have two floppy cables and no modular fan adapter still.
Anyway,it arrived fast and I am happy that someone responded, and tried to help
so I guess I'll just go out and buy a adapter,or splitter.I was just kinda peeved that
the model I bought came with no fan cables as it was supposed to come with one.

What cable are you talking about? A 3-pin fan adapter? The HX520 is supposed to come with:

1 x 20+4-pin ATX
1 x 4-pin +12V
1 x 8-pin EPS12V
2 x PCI-Express
8 x 4-pin peripheral
2 x 4-pin floppy
4 x SATA

There are no fan cables

EDIT: oh I see now. Two of the Molex connectors have just two contacts in them for use with fans. I'm not using mine, so if you want it I can mail it to you. But seriously, why not just use a normal molex connector??

Oh my god, I sent you the wrong cable.

Haha, man, I'm sorry about that. Really. I'll make it up to you.

Thank you,I do appreciate that. :) It was quite comical really, when I opened the box
and found a floppy cable :D I dont own a floppy drive, and have not used one in over 6 years.Four computers in the house and no floppy drives in any of them.

Good thing though,is if I ever do use a floppy drive,I now am equiped to do so in style ! :)

Edit:Thanks Anti for the offer its apprecited,I think I'll wait and see for now.Whatever happens, the CS attention from Corsair is superb for anyone who is thinking of buying from them.

i freaking hate buy.com, getting my hx520 from buy.com was almost a freaking nightmare. It took them 2 weeks for them to send my package out and it wasnt until i threatened to cancel my account did they actually send out the psu. what a bunch of crooks i tell ya.

Thank you Redbeard for first of all taking ownership of the problem right away, and then
going way above and beyond the call of CS duty. The care package you sent......is just
Wow !!!!!!! :)

No problem man, sorry again for sending that wrong cable to begin with!

Count me in as another satisfied customer. I bought it from Buy.com and didn't have any problems. Now I have to send in the rebate. As long as I get that back, I'll be all :) :) :) .
I especially like the 5 year warranty. Thanks Corsair!

Dude, we jumped in the same deal from buy.com. I just mailed out the rebate form this morning. I have to agree this is the best power supply I have ever owned. My previous PS is a Seasonic S12 430W which is already awesomely good, but this Corsair HX520 is simply superior in every respect.

Based on a ton of reading and serious thought, I decided a short while ago to buy a Corsair. Then I stumbled on this thread and I must say Redbeard, I am impressed. First, that you're here in the trenches with us at all. Second, that you are honest and helpful.

Hats off to Corsair for this level of service. You have another customer in the near future. Update: Count me in as a Corsair owner. I grabbed the 620w today and it begins my rebuild.

I've owned one of the 520w models for several months and it's been rock-solid :). Thumbs up to Corsair customer service, as well!
