I've got this PC basically completed outside of the RAM purchase. This box is going to be my "everything but work" box. I work from home doing remote PC tech and, finally, built a box to alleviate my other one from being a jack of all trades machine.

Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 + E6300

There likely won't be a world of gaming taking place on this machine but plenty of DVD encoding and music recording via ProTools.

Is DDR2 PC6400 good enough or is it really worth aiming for faster stuff? I know my way around PC's but, in regards to... modern... overclocking, I'm a little green.

Eh... not to offend but those are probably the worst buy, depending on the value of those led lights to you.

Those are exactly the same as these but with led lights.

Since they're $206 after rebate I would say those aren't a bad deal, just make sure you run memtest and orthos because this series of ram has been having a ridiculous amount of problems. In fact half the threads recently have been about this, the c4, and c4d versions.

As for as overclocking goes.... no. Just no. If you want the best overclocking ram for the money,

It's out of stock right now, but I wouldn't suggest buying it anywhere but newegg, and everyone already knows why :p

Yeah, I wasn't too keen on the disco styles of the other sticks.

Is there something that functions as a great overclocking that has timings not so tight? I'm not sure it'll make that much of a difference for me with my lack of gaming but I still want reputable RAM that's tried and true.

Thanks.
