Looking to my my mmo gaming fix on. I've played both briefly and liked them both. I didn't get too deep into either one and ending up selling both of them. Now that I just built a new computer and I'm going to be working nights mostly I need something to fill my time during the day. Which one should I get??? I need to know soon I plan on buying one today from newegg.

I'd go for WoW, best MMO atm. Also the Burning Crusade just released so you will have a ball getting to 70.

Get EQ2 since it's certainly more interesting than WoW. Better Quests, better looking, better mechanics, Papa John's!

EQ2 is very much alive and while not nearly as crowded as WoW has plenty of people playing. Many would also argue that the game is actually better than wow with all the expansions. It is not as noob friendly of course... which is mostly why Wow is far more popular.

Get World of Warcraft since it's certainly more interesting than EQ2. Better Quests, better looking, better mechanics, and no Papa John's!

Quote fixed above!

EQ2 stinks... you're better off with the original. World of Warcraft is currently the best overall MMO. The quests at least are halfway decent, the mechanics work well, and there's a decent PvP/BattleGrounds system in place.

I'm leaning towards EQ2 since it's only 8 bucks with free shipping at newegg!!!

WoW is $20 and can be activated instantly online through their site (including one month's paid play).

You DO realize they both have monthly fees, right?

Somehow it became habit to edit someone's quotes here. I really don't appreciate changing my quote since it really can confuse people.....

Please remove that. Not being anal here, but if you change my quote you're not quoting me and i don't like someone changing MY opinion for me.

I only changed it to my opinion and noted that directly below it. The habit came by way of a fairly normal practice as a small joke to people. If they can't figure out that it was changed with the major changes bolded, and a note below joking about how I "fixed" it, then they probably wouldn't have realized it anyway :). Your own post is not changed at all.

yes I know they both have monthly fees...

Knowing that, why would you care that the price is "only $8 at newegg!" as though it's some sort of factor in your purchasing decision :)?

Just bought EQ2....I should have it by monday. I'll pick up Echoes of Faydwer in two weeks.

WoW is in no way superior to EQ2 after Echoes of Fadwyr. Perhaps compared to launch EQ2 yes, but not really anymore. EQ2 now is an almost completely different beast. WoW is a very very simple MMO when it comes down to it... It does nothing really revolutionary... its just polished and easy.

Perhaps I should look into it too... does it have PvP elements to it like WoW, or is it a "fight dumb monsters only" game :(? I'm only familiar with launch EQ2.

Again, not trying to be anal and I'm always there for some fun as well but you and others should not change quotes. Quotes are quotes and should reflect the original Post, otherwise they serve no propose.

Misquoting is pretty lame. Say you disagree, dont make people think someone said one thing when they didnt with misquotes... Personally I think there should be a rule against this.

It is not misquoting when it is said in plain sight DIRECTLY beneath the quote that it is changed to reflect my opinion. It is a commonly done, and NOT misleading in any way, thing that people do on forums.

Now, to try and get this thread back on-topic...

A vBulletin "feature" is that you can make anything "quoted." For example:

Now please keep the thread on-topic ;)

I don't get it....that was a misquote? And btw, only because a feature is there doesn't mean it should be used.

On topic: Yes, there is PvP in EQ2 now. Even PvP only servers.

apples and oranges.
you expected people to not list their personal favorite?

decide for yourself

How does it work? Is there any link where I can read up on it? I came from Dark Age of Camelot and am trying WoW out now, but the lack of PVP objectives and depth, plus world-PVP just being ganking lower levels, seems very poor to me. I've found tidbits of info on the EQ2 forums, but nothing that explains what/how anything works.

Guys, calm down.

It's not like the quote was taken totally out of context and then changed as to show YOUR view of things. It was edited in a sarcastic way as to show the opinion of the person who quoted you.

Let it go.

You will only get opinions of from people who's opinions aren't worth anything. Everyone has a preference.

Id just look at all the media and success of wow, its gotta be doing something very very right to achieve what it has.

The crowd in Everquest 2 seem to be much more mature than the crowd in World of Warcraft. I'm not entirely sure why, but if you've played both, then you probably know what I'm talking about.

I've played both at the end game. I have a 60th Mage and 52nd Warrior on World of Warcraft and a 50th Wizard and 63rd Berserker on Everquest 2.

I personally prefer Everquest 2, but currently I'm playing World of Warcraft. In World of Warcraft I generally try to avoid the message boards and general chat, and everything appears to be going ok. I'll play it until I get burned out by the immature community, and switch back to Everquest 2.

If I were play a MMO again, it'd be Guild Wars or MAYBE EQ2. I have two friends that play WoW but I have no interest in that scene.

That's the best desciption i've seen yet. I don't play on any of the servers yet....i plan on thought. I used to play SB and was on of the few that liked it...

That's interesting. I played EQ2 back at the launch for about 6 months. I thought it was good back then but stopped playing due to time constraints. I'm kinda curious about joining up again though.

Now the only question is: does my little level 48 Ratonga Warlock still exist? hmmm....

I'm kinda thinking about moving back to EQ2 as well. I currently play WOW but it just doesn't hold my attention for some reason. I haven't played EQ2 since about 6 months after release as well, so I'm just afraid my 50 paladin will be really far behind/obsolete or even gone. If I knew I could play for 2 months or so and be back in the swing of things, chances are I'd go back.

I hadn't played for almost a year, and only had a 27 Conjurer, but I just resubbed and am having great fun. EQ2 has improved immensely since launch.

I've played both WoW (extensively) and EQ2, and both are very good games. WoW is easier to get into, and EQ2 has a lot more depth.

Numbers don't lie. You should have gotten World of Warcraft. You think it is a coincidence that it has a HUGE lead in market share? 7 million people can't be wrong.

I have played FFXI, EQ2, COH, and WoW... and nothing comes close to WoW.

(granted, the graph is 6 months out of date but with the release of BC it is likely that WoW's market share is even larger.)

Wow is a great game but it is a very easy game. The reason those numbers are so large is it is easy enough to be millions of people's FIRST MMO. Just keep that in mind. For some of us that have been playing MMO's since UO, WoW is fun for a bit but the challenge is missing. I have heard great things about EQ2. The game is nothing like it was since launch. Eve online is something you might want to look into also.

Personally I am playing Vanguard now. Been beta testing it for over a year and I am really enjoying it.
