Crackdown xbox360 demo

player reviews across the net seem to be very favorable.

Actually, almost unamimously so.

Buying this game... LAUNCH day. Plus marked copies have an invite to Halo 3 MP Beta

I really don't like the grainy textures. I spent the first five minutes just wondering around.

This game might not be my cup of tea, but I'll see if it'll grow on me.

I've heard some pretty good things, about the demo, from a couple people on another forum I frequent. I wasn't very interested in this game, until recently, when I saw a split-screen co-op video. Now I really want to try out the demo and see if I like it.

saw some of the new vids on gametrailers, looks wayyy more fun.....jumoing=awesome!

I saw a vid where a guy had his strength skill leveled so high he could pickup and throw gas stations.. Unbelieveable.

This game is made from awesome and win, with a little bit of bitchen mixed in.

So you are saying that he picked up the Gas Sation? Not a gas tank, but the WHOLE station? Wow that's pretty cool...guess I will have to DL tonight.

love this game, but wtf are they doing touting the coop nature of this game, and you can't make a private game with friends....all random stranger games. Sigh.

haven't tried coop yet, but I'm pretty sure I saw an invite a friend option.

It will be enabled in the retail version.

yeah no kidding. THe point is it sucks that you can't invite a friend in the demo. Every other mp demo I've played has this...even "the outfit"

The whole coop thing about not being able to invite sucks.

The game is pretty good though.

I played it for a half an hour or so and I didn't like it much at all. I'll have to play around with it more but I didn't like the targetting and the driving was horrible IMO.

i get a little adrenaline rush everytime i jump off a really tall building. must be the beginnings of vertigo! its like the rollercoaster feeling in the pit of my stomach every 30 seconds, this game is going to be a lot of fun haha

This game could really use a grappling hook. The jumping feels great, reminds me of the Spiderman game where you play both Spiderman and Venom. It plays out like Venom's jumping through the city, but at least Venom could throw out a tendrili to grab a building if he misses the landing by a little bit. Just a little bit, like a 10 foot reach would be enough to make the rooftop travel nice and smooth.

Loving the travel feel, enjoyed the foot-race. Guns kinda felt like a waste of time, but I'm sure that it will change later into the game. During the demo, it was just easier to melee everything or throw objects/grenades. Vehicles felt nice and heavy, don't know what the higher level vehicle skill feels like. I hate the animation for strafing while shooting. He takes one step, and moves as if he just took 4 steps. It looks like moonwalking.

It feels great to have brute strength. I enjoy games where you're ungodly strong and rampaging through hordes of enemies. It's a bit weird to be a "cop" though, since the collateral damages and casualties I was racking up was probably worse than the the crimes I was stopping.

City feels pretty large, I like that. It's not quite as dense as the cities in some other games, it feels overly spacious at times. The street is like an 4-lane superhighway(4 each side) in some places.

I'll need to spend more time with the demo though, I spent most of the time chasing levels to see what the character handling was like after upgrades, haven't spent enough time trying the missions and actually playing the game.

Seemed pretty interesting. Lots to do for a demo, too. Graphics aren't really that great, but they're not necessarily bad either. I'll have to play around with it some more, but it seems like a game with a lot of depth. I'm not sure I'll get it (too many other good games coming fairly soon), but it's a definite consideration.

I dunno about some of the others, but this is on my short list. Loved every minute of it and plan on playing it a ton.

I played the demo and enjoyed it. I just worry about the replay value - there's not much in the way of side missions in the demo, and those were always half the fun in GTA-like games.

I'll wait for the full reviews.

Brings me back to my City of Heroes days. I love this game!

Only in the demo, the real game will allow for quick invites a la Gears of War. Start game, hit Guide button, Invite friend. Bam!

The look of it reminds me of a comic book, but I think that's what they're going for.

Side missions...I am sure full game will have plenty.

Targeting...that will take some getting used, that's for damn sure. I admit I only played for a bit, but it seemed weird to me.

I am hoping the full version has an option to change radio stations in the car. It seems you could only scroll through a few selected tracks in the demo, unless I missed something.

If you've played Saints Row, and liked it...you'll be able to slide right into this game. I already have Crackdown on pre-order through Game Stop (...and yes...to get the halo beta too).

Every MP demo I've ever played on xboxlive lets you invite your friends.

I disagree with this statement. I had just finished getting 100% in Saints Row after playing it like crazy for the last 3 weeks or so and went right into the Crackdown demo and was disappointed. I seriously hate the way the cars feel and drive in Crackdown and I prefer the Saints Row aiming system. The only simularities I've seen are the blantant GTA likeness in both. I expected more from one of the creators of GTA with Crackdown, but to be fair I should try it again.

Nothing wrong with disagreeing with someone's post. I found a lot of similarites, not everything (and did mention the aiming system dislike in my post)...and, I didn't think the cars in Saints Row handled that great...but, neither of these games are meant to be 'driving' games.

I played it today.

I'm actually impressed so far. I like the feedom of movement that you get with the game.
I don't mind the targeting system, as it has auto-aim and all.

The vehicle physics could use some work, though I kinda like the tightness of the handling-you have to work a little to get the car to do what you want.

The graphics...I LOVE them...seriously...they look fantastic to me! It's an odd mix of cell-shading along with tons of other techniques and gives the game a very stylized feel overall. I love the simplicity, yet sharpness and detail of textures used for objects in the game.

This seems like it'll be good....

Melee attacks are so awesome in this game. It's cool being able to kick a car 50 feet or throw an 18-wheeler at gang members.

Just in case anyone was wondering when you level up strength it tells you how much your guy can lift.

1-star = half a ton
2-star = 1 ton
3-star = 2 tons
4-star = 10 tons

I think I ended up playing the demo for close to 2hrs. I had fun. I will get some more time in and see if it is buy worthy.

I like the driving feel, at least in the early levels, I haven't run over enough enemies to reach level 3 or 4. I like the heavy car feel better and I prefer it over Saints Row. Definitely would prefer Saints Row's aiming. Love the shotgun blasts tossing enemies around.

Melee could use a bit more variety. 4 kicks, a running jump kick that knocks them straight back, a standing-still roundhouse kick that knocks them straight back, and a low-punt for crouching or low enemies that knocks them straight back, and a curb-stomp for prone enemies, that just deals damage to finish them. A gun-butt also knocks them straight back if target-lock shooting at point-blank. I'd like to be able to knock someone upwards, and get to shoot them as they fall. Or a grab-attack that can throw an enemy. Sometimes there's nothing in an area to throw but other enemies, so you need to kick them away and then chase the body down to pick it up, and bring that body back before you can throw it at an enemy.

Object collision has had some problems. When enemies get out of a car, I figured that one of the fastest ways to kill them is to just kick the car into them, but kicking the car usually causes it to clip right through the enemies. Not sure why this happens because the physics in the explosions for this game have been phenomenal.

So far, I've seen foot-races over rooftops, vehicle races, and assasination which is really just like normal free-roam, except that there's more enemies in the area, and one of the enemies needs to be kicked 4-5 times instead of just 1-2 times. I hope there's more to see that I haven't run across yet.

I'll buy the game, but I don't know if this game will turn out to be repetitive. I don't think this will be a "must-have" game.
