MySpace says it will soon start sending out Amber alerts to help find missing children. This will come in very handy if you happen to be abducted by someone you met on MySpace.

MySpace struck a partnership with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to enable MySpace AMBER alerts, a program between the media and law enforcement to issue early warning broadcast bulletins in serious child abduction cases.

Haha,

Now the kidnapped kiddies can see that they went missing on their own myspace page.

Shutting down myspace isn't going to do anything. Hell, I had a site up when I was in highschool and college for family and friends, I had pictures on it, posted what was going on in my life... all before myspace came out so it. People will still find people online, if it isn't myspace then it will be chat rooms or some other social site like myspace. As long as there is an internet people will have some way to meet other people. Myspace is just one of the places that people use, unfortunitely it is the most popular one by name regonition thus it is the one people want to bash.

I wouldn't say so. Little sally who is 12 years old wont be able to create her own website with penpals nor will she be capable of using this said website to advertise herself to predators.

And if she does get this right, she wont have a way to advertise herself... which makes all the more safer.

I see myspace as a magnet to kids and predators... makes me think of a giant neon sign sticking out like a sore thumb.

AdultFriendFinder = Myspace for adults.

Myspace = ChildFriendFinder for adults.

I just looked around on MySpace (never been to any of these "social sites" before). Holy shit. My kid isn't even born yet and I think I'm gonna block that crap now. The first random page I pulled up was a 16 yo girl who listed her address and school. I just hope she is lying.

hey...at least they are trying....the only problem is that amber alerts work with people that go outside :)

I bet you $10 she isn't or she's a cop.

NICE! If you're gonna meet her, whatever you do, don't bring condoms or alcohol with you: Thats evidence. Hahaha.

you cant blame myspace its the parents who have issues with monitoring there childrens activities.

Myspace isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

It'll be like the whole politician vs videogames thing; it just won't happen.

It's plain and simple; it's not Myspace's fault for what happens to slutty little Susy. It's her fault for doing things she thought she was prepeared to do, but apparently was fucking NOT.

It's nice little feature, though, that they are helping out with the alerts like that.

Nice headline.

Kids are retarded but as a parent it's your job to see to it that they make it close to 18 without doing themselves in. What good could come from a teen having a myspace page. It's not like they can't update their friends on their life by actually talking to them. Most people on Myspace need to be kidnapped to Webpage Design Camp anyway. The pages look like ass.

I agree with you mostly, but myspace provides a meduim.

Thats like saying it's not a druglords fualt, it's the users parents for not teaching them not to do drugs.

I do agree with you, but I feel that sites like myspace are part of the problem... obviously the bigger part of the problem are the parents... however the problem would solve itself if the parents kept their kids off those sites too.
