Hi, well i oc'd to high and my pc wouldnt boot. it would turn on but it woulnt put an output. i wasnt to surprised because last time that happend i just let it sit for 10 min and then when i turned it on it just set itself to default. well i let it sit for an hour and no boot. so next thing i did was take out the cmos battory and let it sit for like 10 min and put it in and the same problem is happening. anyone have anymore ideas on waht i can do to fix this?

Unplug the computer and use the "clear CMOS" jumper. move it from pins 1and 2 to pins 2 and 3 for 10sec and then replace it to pins 1 and 2. Plug the computer back in and turn it back on

Hi, where can i locate that?
i looked in the manuel and i couldnt find it.

Ha nvm i found it. now do i need to flash the bios with the latest update now, or is it on there still?

No, it just resets the bios to default values. You don't need to reflash.

K well i switched the jumpers, waited like 1 min then put them back, reinstalled the battory, pluged everything back in and same problem lol. Im running out of ideas, now what???

Do you have a green light on the motherboard that is solid green, dim, or dead? If it is dim or dead and you have powered applied to it, the motherboard is shot.

well there is a light, in the bottom right corner it is blue when the computer is off and red when it is on. that light works fine. but ive never noticed a green light anywhere.

try removing everything not necessary so you can maybe isolate the cause. I've had this happen before for something as stupid as a keyboard that didn't want to initialize.

My advice, remove EVERYTHING that is attached, external and internal, except the videocard. See if it posts. Then plug in the keyboard/mouse, and see if you can boot.

just did that, same problem. The computer is on but it doesnt "load" i dont hear that beep its supposed to make when it turns on, but everything is on lol like fans are spinning disk drives are spinning and so on.

Can you try any other parts to isolate it? EG different PSU, hard drive, etc?

Try to boot the computer with 1 stick of ram. if that doesnt work, pulled the power cord and clear cmos, and if that does not work, unplug power cord and plug it in again. Dont use two stick of ram not till you are boot to window then shut down the computer and then use the second stick.

ive tried all of that, same problem. im going to have a friend bring his pc over tomarrow so i can use other parts and try to find the problem. rite now i think its the mobo, what do you guys think?

No green light but a blue light / red light? This is not a P5B Deluxe now is it? The only time I have seen a red light on an Asus board is when the following occurs:

1. Video card is in the wrong slot on an SLI motherboard.
2. Wrong voltage type for the video card.

All Asus boards have a green light that indicates ATX power is plugged in and active.

Edit 2: :SMACK!: Yeah, I remember this stupid design job they did. Changing from the green LED to the Blue/RED one that is embedded into an Asus logo. Regardless, the board is shot, and it's not the first time I have seen a P5B series board die prematurely.

How far did you push your oc?

i had the fsb at like 375 with a x9 multiplier and the ram was set at like 1100 mhz. nothing to big, or atleast i didnt think.

Well if this doesnt worrk tomarrow im going to rma back to newegg and get an evga 680i board. i guess this is kind of a good thing that it happend today because my 30 days are up in like 2 days lol.

if you check out the xtremesystems forums this has been happening with plenty of p5b/deluxe boards.

the pc turns on fans are whirring and lights are on but no post to the monitor. this has happened out of the blue to people affer a few months or even quicker. took mine all of 2 days to do it.

i can get my pc to boot by turning off the PS, taking out the battery, clearing the cmos jumper, putting one stick of ram in though sometimes two works.

it wont work if i do it quickly. the few times i had to restart after i found this out i had to wait hours most of the time so i jjust leave my cmos jumper in the clearing position for hours, then put it back to normal, battery back in, etc..

it starts up i goto bios and set things (no oc) and its on. now its just on until my giga comes. the way i look at it i am blessed that this happened to me within my 30 days from zipzoom so i can just get rid of this board.

every board has its issues, but at least one of them does not have to be just a complete death/pain in the ass to revive like this. ill take some sound crackling, ill take a usb port going on the fritz here or there or some cold boots - but this is just ridiculous.

i dont think this has anything to do with my OC as it was very tame. voltages were barely increased, i have a ninja and good airflow and am very anal about checking my nb & sb temps during the initial time with a board. my goal is low temps & voltage first then OC what it gives me.

K well i went to school and when i came back, it booted fine lol. soooo i guess if this happens to anyone just wait 12 hours then turn on your pc and it will boot.

Well it happend again today. God this is pissing me off. i went from 350x9 to 465x7 and now its not starting. this is so stupid, anyway i guess ill have to wait till tomarrow before my computer decides to turn on.

Something else that works with some (I'm not sure with all) computers, is to hold F1, printscreen, pause, or scroll lock (1 of those) when you turn the pc on. it will post failsafe values, and though it posts @ failsafe values, it will hold your previous settings, and you can adjust accordingly. I've seen it so far work on MSI and Asus boards, as I've tested it myself.

*EDIT*
So, I just worked on some tweaking, and had to use it myself. It's insert, not any of the ones I mentioned above. Hold it as you reset the computer, and it will post with the defaults.
