I'm about to purchase a mac book(probably at the end of february (i'm really excited).

I'm thinking about getting the wireless mighty mouse, i've heard good things and it looks bad ass. so the quesiton, i currenty have a cordless mx duo (with the mx700, i'm old skool i guess at this point). should i just stick with what I have, or will the mighty mouse make my experience that much better?

Thanks.

forget the mighty mouse.

Go find a Bluetooth MX1000, your hands and your mind will thank you.

Mighty mice are too expensive for what they are, buy something else, unless you want a really nice mouse, as they are pretty nice mice, but they are expensive

I have a BlueTooth Mighty Mouse and I agree with the guys above. I like it, but there are much better things for equal or less money. You might have to look for some drivers that enable extra features of your mouse though, of course that's a small task for anybody on this forum I hope.

The mighty mouse feels horrible in my opinion. It's like holding a bar of soap.

I like the Mighty Mouse. I tried both an MX1000 and an MX700 and did not like the tracking speed. I know there are apps out there to speed up the mouse tracking but I still didn't like them. I prefer the Mighty Mouse personally.

My main problem with the Mighty Mouse is the friggin ball. I prefer my Finder windows in the column view and the ball always seems to left-right scroll when I don't want it to.

Yeah... for the price of a mighty mouse, I could get a logitech VX revolution (or whatever that nice 2 wheel mouse is)... The MM is simply, just not worth it.

I love my MX518.

It's not so much that the Mighty Mouse isn't worth it, as it is that it is shit. It's a crappy mouse, plain and simple. Want to do a right click? Then you have to lift your index finger from the left mouse button first! I get carpal tunnel syndrome just looking at the damned thing. :(

Maybe they'll come out with a spiffy "dual touch" mighty mouse (for 150$ of course) to follow in the steps of the iPhone.

When I first heard that Apple were making a multibutton mouse, I was hoping that they'd do for mice what they did to trackpads*, but I was sorely disappointed.

*Apple are apparently the only ones in the industry who can make proper trackpads

I've played with a Mighty Mouse and it's pretty cool, but it could've been a whole lot more.

yeah seriously, the trackpad on my macbook never flakes out
the one on my dell inspiron 6000 seems to die if i use it too much in a minute, then i wait a bit and it works again

It's just the quality, either. All non-Apple trackpads are ergonomic nightmares. I can't believe that nobody's properly ripped off two-finger-scrolling yet!

I bought it when it came out, it's pretty cool, but fairly uncofmortable and inaccurate (froma button standpoint)

Since you have to hold it at an angle to be comfortable, you end up right clicking when you want to left / vice versa (since the MM uses touch sensitive buttons to determine R from L)

The angle also makes it had to scroll correctly.

It's cool but there are better options out there for the money.

I bought a Mighty Mouse and didn't like it at all. It wasn't very comfortable and right clicking was a pain in the a**. I was disappointed because I think Apple could have come up with something much better. I decided to get the MX1000 and I love it.

I love the bias that is so automatic, with Apple Lovers. Considering that they don't actually make their trackpads (synaptics does)

Well, who cares if they didn't make it, why are they the only ones to IMPLIMENT such a good track pad?

You think ANY other OEM PC company makes their own stuff either?

What he said. I don't give a rat's ass who builds it, as long as it works properly. Currently, Apple's trackpads are the only ones that are good enough to be classified as working properly. Now, since ASUS built my iBook, surely they can build an equally good non-Apple laptop as well? But noooo.

I hate trackpads, absolutely positively.

So much so, that the ONE factor that previously held me back from buying an Apple laptop before was the lack of the touchpoint. seriously.

When I got a TiBook though, I've began to "tolerate" it... Since I've had my MBP, which has the dual-touch capabilities, I've actually come to like it.

Of course, when I'm working on any other laptop, I end up frustrated and angry.

Actually, compal built your iBOOK (if you are referring to an apple ibook)

asus built your powerbook

Your macbookpro will be built by quanta. The very same manufacturer for dell, gateway, hp, etc...

Yet their trackpads continue to suck. Way to troll.

Exactly. Why DOES Apple have such good trackpads, while the rest of the OEM's have terrible ones. Like, has Apple bought the IP rights to all the good designs or something? Or do the OEM's like saving those extra 5 dollars or so.

I've used THREE thinkpads with trackpads (highschool laptops) and I had to buy a MOUSE (MX518, best mouse ever) as moving less than 2-3 px at a time was impossible.

Any graphics work was exceptionally tough, when the damn pad was so unresponsive (with such bad acceleration) that positionning things was near impossible.

Both my original iBook SE 366mhz, and my Powerbook 867mhz had good trackpads... But my 1ghz Powerbook and MBP (sig) had exceptionnally accurate pads. They've all been better than my Thinkpad ones...

ok guys, we've established that the mighty mouse is mediocre at best, and the trackpads are good...
