I know a lot of you console owners out there were thrilled about the rumors of a console version of Crysis being in the works. Well, the bad news is that the rumors were false, no one is developing a console version at this time. In-Crysis has the official word:

We hope we aren't disappointing anyone, but contrary to any rumours that may be in circulation, neither Crytek nor any third parties are currently engaged in developing Crysis for console platforms.

BWHAHAHAHHA!!

Crysis for PC as to Gears of Wars for Xbox 360.

Besides, who with want to play Crysis on consoles with their crappy outdated graphics. 8800 GTX FTW.

Cheers! I second that....consoles<PC!

Technical concerns aside, I have always had a really hard time playing first-person shooters with console controllers. I don't like that it takes 2 weeks to turn the player around...so that's a somewhat extreme exaggeration, but it feels like forever when your back is filling up with lead.

If you are using 97.92 drivers, look in the profiles section, Gears Of War is listed along with WarGame.exe in it's profile.

So we just may get GOW on PC sometime in the future.

Crysis looks to be way too demanding for horsepower than consoles can deliver.

Looks like an R600 or 8800 required, the X1950 may not be enough. Also dual core and high clock CPU and 2GB of fast ram.

Currently is the keyword here. I'm no big fan of console FPS anyways, unless I have a keyboard and mouse.

word is that crysis will scale very well :)

Not soon enough. By the time GOW is out for PC it will most likely be dead.

Damn...I was hoping I wouldn't have to build a new PC for this game...:(

This may be the very first time I build a new PC for a single game...

....dammit!

Hopefully, but perhaps not. The "official" explanation from the developer for why the GOW entry is in those drivers is that even though it is a console title, the development is done on PCs. As such, they may or may not port it to a PC title, but the reason the entry was in the driver was not because a PC release is imminent. You can believe this or not, but it sounds plausible.

Personally, I'm sick of consoles snapping up what could have been great PC games and either neutering them (HALO) or snatching them completely (GOW). I know there are a host of reasons for this, both practical and financial, but it doesn't make it hurt any less when you see something that could have been a great PC game either get dumbed down to fit the limitations of a console or never even released.

I'm glad this is the case.
As a PC gamer, I'm tired of seeing consoles get the priority for almost every game released. And in some cases, they are exclusive for consoles: Gears of War, Call of Duty 3, Killzone 2, etc...

Considering that Crysis is such an anticipated game, being a PC exclusive, puts a smile in my face :)
Hopefully Alan Wake and Bioshock will also be PC exclusive, considering how good they look too, but I don't know if there is any confirmation of this.

I always thought the consensus was that Bioshock and Alan Wake would be on PC as well as X360...

Thinking back my last 2 builds were designed specifically to get the best performance from a game using game benchmarks (Comanche 4, then Doom3, now Crysis?). It really reminds you why were all here.

But back on topic, I'm glad their not co-releasing a console game. Because usually when this happens the PC gets a crappy console-like menu system (Read: Oblivion, FF, Need for Speed) or the console game turns out to be absolutely nothing like the PC version (Read: BF2 for PS2).

I'm glad they are not releasing it for consoles. I'm tired of the console fan boi's always ragging on computers.

+1

same exact issue with FPS control on a kb/m versus a controller. i hate the lack of control in turning and looing around. it feels robotic on a console. on a PC, i feel like i can move and look more like i would if i were really blasting germans at point du hoc, or bastogne.

good i'm glad.. there needs to be a lot more PC ONLY titles

Here,Here !!!!!!! And we all know GOW is coming to the PC....Of course the devs have to deny it,as it would canabalize current 360 sales.... :D I mean why
bother with a more expensive, crippled version,if it was offically confirmed,a better version
was coming PC side,with better graphics,bigger maps,better controls... ;)
