top set of icons are on a bar that hides it self, the Dektop is a menu (much like the start menu) that hides.

techie81:

Is that a render or the real thing? These days, it's damned hard to tell with some of the renders I've seen of cars and some bikes, hell, even some "people" nowadays are pretty damned realistic.

Just curious, and also, if it is a render, could I get linkage to it or info about it?

Thanks...

What theme is that Factor? Looks badass...

Currently cycling through photos I took of my recent trip to Japan. Current background right now is Shibuya district in Tokyo for anyone that wants to know.

The instructions, from deviant, to make the menu bar theme work suck, can you try to make it easier to accomplish?

Wow thats a sweet setup. what are you using?

I am using the AREAo4.2 shell, a modified Areao4 Foobar for foobar2000 and objectdock with the AREAo4.2 icons.
I moved the taskbar to the top and then hid it. I am using a start menu docklet so i can still use the start menu without the taskbar.

We might as well give PLmatt his own sticky since he changes his wallpaper every other day. :p

 Nah, I changed from that Mac thing to Windows but kept that wallpaper for like a week, I'll have this for the whole week now though.

I can't stand too much change. I like my desktop the way it is and I don't change it for a while :p

/end old man rant

Everything comes up in the right click menu.

It's the Blackblox shell. Runs in place of the regular windows explorer shell. Generally uses less resources than normal too.

And my laptop:

Same blackbox shell, but with objectdock added because the ol' touchpad isn't as efficient as a mouse ;)

I'd be interested in this Blackbox thing (never heard of it before)

I will, of course, do some searching on Google, but I'll ask you first if you know any good resources for how to set this up, etc.

I really like the Mac OS X look but hate the actual operating system for obvious reasons

All the menu customization is done in really simple text files. Plugins are all handled in menus. There's different "packages" as far as how you can get started with Blackbox, but I think bblean is the best one. Another popular one is called Xoblite. If you'd like I can put up a shot of the text file for the main menu so you can see kind of how it's set up.

One thing to note is that what you see in those shots is pretty much what you get. There are tons of "visual styles" out there for it but they're all pretty much color and pattern variations on the same basic few styles. It's not one for someone who wants pretty. It's all about simplicity.

Is a better pic of mine. I run Blackbox too. I have for a few years. I got into it from another [H] user and now I can't stand anything else.

I have the right click menu setup for programs I use sometimes, everything else I use keyboard/mouse shortcuts for, mostly mouse.

My BB shell is using ~15mb of ram right now, not too bad at all.
