News.com says that Intel is planning on launching three new quad core processors on Monday. The trio of chips consists of one desktop processor and two Xeons.

As expected, the desktop chip is called the Core 2 Quad 6600 and will join the Core 2 Extreme QX6700 model Intel already ships. The new processor will run at 2.4GHz, and the front-side bus that links the chip to the rest of the system will run at 1066MHz, the company is expected to announce at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week.

800 something I believe then being dropped to 500 something in months of so.

Around $550 sounds good.

I could not see spending $800 - $900 on this new Quad CPU when I've seen the Quad Xtreme for around $900.

Where is the sense in that?

I have a e6600 B2 running at 3.6GHz 100% stable 24/7. Going to be a tough call on what to do.

dang thats awesome.. wonder how they compare to there dual core sibling
