I'm in the market for a new computer, as my current one is just getting old. I have a list of all the components, but I thought I'd check here and make sure everything will fit together/is good, etc. If there are any items that are around equal in price but can be overclocked way past these, let me know too. I already have a good monitor/keyboard/mouse/headphones, so I think this is all I need:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz $318

Fan: Thermalright SI-128 $49.99

Motherboard: ASUS P5W DH DELUXE/WIFI-AP LGA 775 Intel 975X ATX Intel Motherboard $224.99

RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) $277.00

Video Card: eVGA 640-P2-N821-AR GeForce 8800GTS 640MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card $429.99

Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD3200KS 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache $89.99

Power Supply: OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI ATX12V 700W Power Supply 100 - 240 V $149.99

Case: COOLER MASTER Stacker 810 RC-810-SKN1 Black Aluminum Bezel $154.99

Does this all look like it is compatible and a pretty ideal setup for the 1700 dollars I have to spend? Am I missing any key components somehow? All that comes out to 1694.94. Thanks for the help!

Oh, my bad, forgot to mention I have a Floppy Drive and an optical drive already.

How far do you plan on overclocking? If you don't plan on goin past 4Ghz, then all you really need are some DDR2-800 that can mildly OC, like the G.Skill 2GBNQ sticks for ~$210. Theres also some patriot sticks that use the micron ICs everyone loves for under $250, and we all know those can OC like crazy.

It doesnt look like you plan on goin crossfire, so why not go with the nForce 680i SLI chipset instead of the i975x crossfire chipset? And if your monitor isn't 24" or larger, then there really is no need for SLI/Crossfire at all. So if you don't need SLI/Crossfire, go with a P965 Express board, like the P5B-E or DS3.

The Seagate 7200.10 320gb is faster than the WD3200KS. Great case! As for the PSU, you might want to go with a Corsair 520W if you're not goin for SLI/Crossfire. And if you are, you should go for a Seasonic S12EP 650W instead of the OCZ GXS 700W, as its more efficient and doesnt have any ripple.
