Consists of a SpeedStream DSL Modem, to a Linksys WRT54G v3 running Tomato. Connects to a Netgear GS716T 16-port Gigabit Mangaged Switch (In Borat voice: Gigabit is very nice).
Hoping to get a relay rack and a shelf for the modem and router so I can rack that up + the TV stuff and a power conditioner.
The most cost effective solution I've found for that is flight cases....inspiration to take some pics of server room and home office.
For those of you with some of these smaller racks, where did you get them and what's the price like?
I'd love to rackmount at home, but everything is out of my price range.

How much did this stuff run you? I love Proliant hardware BTW. Here's my collection...

but my english is not very good ... what does "How much did this stuff run you?" mean ?
nice blitz! Ive been waiting for you to post some damn pics ever since you said our networks look alike
Wouldn't you agree that our setups are very much alike? I don't have a VPN connection off-site, but I've been meaning to start one up and plop a server elsewhere!
yep, my setup has changed since I posted last. Plus my off-site(work) VPN will be changing very soon since I resigned and am about to start a new position elsewhere.
ugh.... laziness wins again @ posting pics.
EDIT: okay, i gave in and took some pics... Ill post one here, but check out my thread in the root for the rest..

YES! those are token rings terminators!
Ahh.. ok... i wasn't shure...Not a poblem. It means "how much did it cost you?"

Wow.. That looks nice !
I'm planing something similar at the moment. The new Server will be part of my lab. I just need a way to mount it into my IBM rack... How did you do this with your Servers ? Sliding rails or smething ?
Thanks for all the great compliments guys.
Replus: yes, they are all racked using standard rail kits. If you look at my other post in here you can see a rear shot of the rails and all of the rails laying out. It was funny though, when i ordered them the owner of the company(so he said) called me up and asked if I was sure that I ordered the right items, I think it was 6 rail kits being delivered to a residence. He said he never had anything like this before
heh, maybe. You got any updates yourself ?Thanks for the info. Maybe you should show a picture of your setup to the salesman. I believe that many companies out there dont even have half of your equipment
heh, maybe. You got any updates yourself ?
I also dug up the site that i ordered the rails from incase anyone was interested

Yeah welcome to my world. My IBM x345 won't fit on my HP Netserver rack on normal rails. So I just plop it on a high-quality shelf and it works for now... But I lose 1U. hehNo update from my side at the moment. I was busy redoing my website today
Thanks for the link. I think i have to create some rails by myself for my Compaq-Server to IBM rack conversion... Or i could get a CPQ rack... But then my IBM Netfinity wouldnt fit anymore...

Maybe we could change Racks
I will talk to a mechanician this week. Hopfuly we will find a way to create some adapters or another solution to use the existing rails. Otherwise i will use some standart rails. Would it be possible to post a picture of your solution ?
Now for some new stuff... School was absolutly boring today so i decided to create some more visio shapes
The two routers in the third row are new.
nice...do share how you make those
We should get together
Hrhr... i got some spare room beside my Rack
But you would have to come over to Switzerland -> cheese, mountains, snow, chocolate, watches and of course banks (with tons of gold stored inside the mountains!!!)
my uncle lives in Switzerland.... sick house too... 5 floors, elevator... He's balling. Sells antiques. Has 5 porches. I went to visit him when i was 10(13 years ago), Switzerland's is a sweet place.
