I'll wait to call shens or BS until we hear more on this. Everybody who's said a company won't take a loss of 900 bucks obviously doesn't understand that just because the company THEY work for screws people when that company makes a mistake of that sort, but not every company is like that and I've worked for more then a few where this kinda thing HAS happened. I'll reserve judgement of the truth of this when either we see pics of the sales slip and the chip beside it, or the OP starts posting a ton of excuses why he can't.

Um, how is not honoring a ridiculously obvious error in pricing "screwing" the customer? How is expecting a company to honor an obviously honest (and very costly) mistake not "screwing" the company?

Are you telling me that this guy, a user of this forum no less, didn't know it was really a >$1k processor when he ordered it for a buck?

Good on you if you get it, but please don't feel slighted if they end up not honoring an obviously bogus price.

If you get it, post a pic of it.

If this is true, then you've gotten seriously lucky.

heres some proof, doesn't state the price tho

hopefully i will get a receipt when it comes in the mail

exactly why I told people after they made it so you can't add it to your cart :D

If prices are mismarked on an item, the retailer must honor the mismarked price.

I once bought a $400 suede coat for $79 because of this. It's the law, they must honor it.

LOL! It is not the "law". Please, provide us all a link to cyberlaw where it states that ANY price on ANY internet website must be honored if it's priced wrong.

Microcenter doesn't honor pricing mistakes. One of their local stores is right near my house. I've asked them about this before when they had the mismarked 1900xt's. All the online orders got cancelled, and they fixed the instore price to match what their price should be.

well they did this time.........

ooooo you slipped by the system. Good for you. No reciept to prove it?

it's usually up to the manager or store owner to decide to honor the price or not.

Actually, it is their company policy not to honor the mistakes in pricing. The manager could get repremanded for this, or even fired if they thought he let it slip on purpose for a 'friend'. That is a ~$1000 'mistake' if they see it that way.

who's company policy, Microcenter?
It all comes down to politics and shit

NOBODY honors pricing mistakes online, it simply doesn't happen. The only way you will get such a ridiculously good deal is if they don't notice. Once it's shipped, however, it's yours by law. Even if they call you and ask for it back, you can just say "sorry, no". This happened to me many times back in the late 90s during the golden days of deals, back when you could stack 3 staples coupons and get a palm5 for forty bucks, etc.

It says it shipped, so it looks like you lucked out. Nice job man.

Now sell it and get a 6600 and a 8800GTX!

Yeah no one honors mishaps. Back when the X1600XT came out HP had it for $60 bucks. So many people jumped on the deal including me that HP cancelled it and refunded the money back to all the people who ordered it.

I'm still waiting for the reciept sitting next to the processor showing $1.00 so I can congratulate him on succeeding in a <1% chance of actually getting this. :p

Seriously though, I'm about as confidant as NulloModo was when he made this post:

No way AMD is hitting 65 nm this year. In fact, I'll eat my own dick, and post pics on GenMay if AMD hits 65 nm within 2006.

haha.. I remember when he said that.

But my join date is actually around the time of 1999 or 2000. My account got swept away in the forum overhaul due to inactivity. Then I was temp banned for making fun of the advertisement system. :p

Anyhow, I might be brought back to life if a reciept can jump start my heart.

I work as a supervisor in a customer service call center for a major office supplies company. I can guarantee that if the company found out their mistake prior to shipment, this will never ship unless the company is staffed and run by idiots.

As others have mentioned, all e-tailers have protections and disclaimers on their website to prevent things exactly like this from biting them in the ass.

Ain't gonna happen, if, in fact the order ever took place to begin with. Why no online reciept? Every eCommerce business makes you provide an e-mail address before you order. If this order ever took place, you would have recieved an order confirmation stating the items ordered, price, shipping address, ect...

As i stated before I accidentally wrote .cmo instead of .com so I never received a receipt. Later I called to fix this. I will on Tuesday sine they are not open now. The package will probably have a receipt in the box.

creditcardstatement.jpg

There is my credit card statement online. The $27 charge is from a purchase I made in the store. The $7 one is the processor.

That says pending transaction... and the date is for this coming tuesday...

yea im not sure what that means either.....its pending because they didn't charge my card until it shipped which was 2 days ago

hmm.. I order from microcenter all the time, and they don't ship until the credit card clears for online orders. They refused to ship my 8800GTX or even let me pick it up in store when I ordered online via credit card because it didn't clear yet. I just ended up cancelling my order and going in-store to buy it on credit card which seemed silly to me.

GOOD for him that he didnt tell anyone. I HATE finding a good deal online. Then deuche bags go on fatwallet, and hotdeals forums, and slickdeals, tell EVERYONE online, then 1 hour later, 500,000 orders have been placed, and everyones order becomes void. NOT counting the extremely deuchy extra-deuche deuche bags that order like 5 or 10 of them. God I hate those people.

I'm GLAD he held his mouth shut, or some moron would have posted it all over, causing nothing but grief for everyone else.

AMEN brother! I particularly hate the bastards that call up the company and go "Is it OK if I order this? Is this legit?" so the deal is immediately killed. That happens EVERY time.

Whenever I find a misprint deal, I place my personal order and wait to get an actual tracking number before I post online.

^--exactly.. hopefully he gets the C2D Extreme for $1.. that would be nice.

Guys, I got one too! I then called the manager to let him know and he said "Oh no we don't care about profit margins or our jobs. So please just order more." Heh i would be suprised if you get it. Good luck though.

Its got a $1149 price tag, you could have at least removed that before making the fake receipt.
