Ok, so I've tinkered in the past with overclocking my current system, but I never could really get much out of it.

As much as I've tried (i just spent 2 hours searching [H], tomshardware, anandtech) I cant find someone who has the combination in the title:

Asus P5W DH motherboard
Intel E6600 CPU
G. Skill 2gb DDR2 6400 (HZ model)

I feel like I HAVE to get the most out of OC'ing the Conroe (Absolutely!) but as much as I read, Im still confused on voltages, timings, ratios and all this other jargon.

I dont mind tinkering, I just dont wanna fuck things up. The thing that gets me most is the RAM dividers and such. Sometimes I read and it sounds like I WILL have to use a divider, others not, that I can just increase the FSB and RAM voltage and I'll be set.

If anyone out there has this current setup (im getting a Zalman 9700 too) and can advise me on what bios OC settings you are using (Im not looking for PUSH THE LIMITS HERE, maybe just around 3.3-3.5ghz)

.,..specifically Ram timings, ratios, etc.

I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks and Happy New Year!

OK, basically you have great ram, so providing you feed them 2.2Vdimm you could reach 1000Mhz with out your ram being your limiting factor. Try this out
cpu vcore = 1.4
nb 1.55
sb 1.6
FSB termination 1.45ish
Dram Vdimm = 2.2 / 2.50
FSB = 390 +/-

Try this and see what happens and report back

AI Overclocking to manual

cpu freq: 375+
dram freq set it close to 800-900
pci express 100
pci clock 33

memory 2.1
vcore 1.4
mch 1.55
ich 1.05

disable enhanced c1 control
disable cpu internal thermal control
disable ecc mode
disable hyperpath 3
disable dram throttling threshold
disable memory remap (unless ur on vista)

disable configure dram timing by spd

4-4-4-12

bios 1707 is stable also

start to thinker with it with orthos for stability and intel tat/coretemp to check on temps
