I'm setting up the new T43 to give to the missus next week. My usual method of stumbling into solutions for screen brightness and power schemes. Since it won't run on batteries all that much, I chose the Maximum Performance setup. CPUz correctly shows the PM as running at 2.0. Speedfan, OTOH, reads it all over the place, from 50mhz - 800mhz, depending on when I check it. Does this inaccuracy carry over to the temp sensors? Is there a better monitoring solution?

TP4xFanControl + BatteryMaximizer + Notebook Hardware Control.

TP4xFanControl lets you turn fans on and off

BatteryMaximizer lets you set speeds, but more importantly, lets you adjust your battery recharge rates (set it to only start recharging after the battery drops to 80%, for example) to extend battery lifespan.

NHC lets you set speed and voltage.

At least, that's what my T43 runs. TP4xFC almost never runs though, I run it manually if I want the fans turned off.
