Is there a website out there that shows how to figure out the Chinese sayings that people send you in WoW? I'd love to know what the heck those people are saying and some simple replies. I threw what they said through an online translator, but it wasn't helpful.

thanks,

casefan

Just use simple english like..

"Give me gold kk"

I got a couple of hundred gold off a few farmers by convincing I was one of them...

If you are talking about Chinese words that they say in English (Pin Yin), there is no way you can translate it without a person, because each word has different ways to pronounce it, giving it a different meaning.

That would explain why the online translator was thoroughly unhelpful. Good info. Has anyone ever put together a list of standard sayings, "hello" "thank you" "my Chinese is horrid" etc.?

thanks,

casefan

They probably know those words in English.

blah, I perfer the traditional Zhuyin, but I guess you can't really type those out...

find a guildy that knows chinese. you can usually get them to do your gathering for you, and resell it. or you can get a friend and cheat their sellers in the big cities.

here's some things i picked up

zhen de = really?
zhuai = cool
yun = faint
bu ke qi = np
mei guan xi = np / dont worry
xixi = giggle
xiexie = thanks
shuo hua = say something
ni shi = and you? / who are you?
zhong guo = chinese
dui bu qi = sorry
gege = bro
wo lai le = i am coming
qing deng wo = wait for me
bang = help
wo = me
sha guai = kill villains
zan jian = 88 = bye

edit: that was from a text file, i'll add some more as i recall them~

qing = please
wo ai ni = i love you
peng you / py = friend

What chinese? Are you playing on the right set of servers? I have 22 days in game and have not come across a single non-american

You have to actually pay attention - there is a chinese gold farmer on every server (Usually quite a few..). They just dont talk for the most part. They get on, grind money, and then pass the character off to another one after their shift is over. 24/7 gold grinding.

Wo gei qian means give me gold.. I read this on some website, also, don't bother looking for some chiense english online dictionary, a word means like 24 million different things, you can sorta translate but you have to look at like 15 meanings for each word and put them together

Try playing at 4 in the morning. :D

Yeah... and about Chinese gold farmers, let's be nice, people. They are working for hours on end to make in a month for what you make in an hour. Their money is usually sent back home to help support their family and siblings like most of China's young workforce, so, please don't scam them if you have to. They're just trying to make a living like you and me.

Aren't a lot of these basically overseas sweatshops? Also, selling in game assets is against the tos, so its not exactly a respectable endeavor.

Thanks for the replies, all. I usually play late at night, as RL gets in the way during the day, so maybe I run into more overseas players than usual. Honestly, some of the Chinese speaking players are real jerks and some of them have been cool, just like everyone else in WoW. I'm not after gold. Honestly, there isn't much to do with it endgame, as all the uber gear is BoP. But, I would like to figure out what some of these people are saying when they are standing there, staring at me. We'll give this a try and see how it works.

thanks,

I really see no problem with "farmers". Now that blizz has banned so many, it's hard to find anything I need on the AH.

Gold farmers do mess up the economy by flooding the market with goods and deflating the value of them. This depresses the whole market. However, most of the people I run into, from the best I can tell, are just power leveling other ppls toons. They are not 60 yet and sometimes know enough English to ask for help with quests.

although i did like the cheap mana potions when they were exploiting dire maul. that made raiding alot cheaper.

I have never been able to find website that does translate like that. If you find one please notify. I would like to understand that as well

I had an english conversation one day with a chinese farmer.
He had a name like sjbskjs. This guy answered alot of questions i asked.
Turned out he was 21 years of age, he grinded 10 hours a day for his boss who would sell it. He didnt tell me much about how much he earned, but he didnt like the job and did it because he couldnt get a better job.
I told him to get his life back and try find a better job and wished him gl.
