Sense this genaration has seen a nice price hike, do you find yourself buying more used games? or starting to buy them used when/if you can?

Almost all of my games are bought used. Tis the advantage of being older and not needing everything NOW NOW NOW. Plus by getting them used it means I generally have more than the average person which means I don't need new games all the time.

...and so on. =)

I voted on the must have though, because certain games I like to play before the internet is covered in spoilers.

i've always bought used ifi see it...

but if it's a must have.. i'll buy it new right when it comes out...

used games are a good deal. speakin of that...i should really buy some more when i get paid on fri.

The majority of the games I purchase I find used. If it's a game that I really have to have now I'll go with it new but typically 80% + of the games I've bought in the past year or two were used (or given to me for free).

yeah thats how i kinda see it. there ARE some games out there that are worth every penny and some that well.. arn't imo.

i mean there's some games out there i'd like to play but don't really appeal that much to make me want to spring for them. so i wait tell i can get them used. ( or in some cases wait 'til their platinum hits. ^_^)

like i just bought blazing angels for the 360, used. because it wan't a must have but i like doffighting games. and it got just ok reviews. and yeah its an ok game. i think the controls are a little whacky. wish their was a first person mode. and some more to the hud, like a compass, altitude air speed. and so forth. but its an ok game for 24 bucks i can't complain much. id give it a 7.

but then theirs games like Gears of war which was a most have right away type a thing. ( so much so it was what finally got me to buy my 360)

then thiers thsoe games that you wish you waited and bought used. and for me thats rainbowsix vegas. clunky overused controls. and retarded manirizims. but then your determined to get your $64.38 out of the bitch lol. but i'll most likly let my brother beat it then i'm gonna trade it in for lost planet in january. LOL

I don't buy used games at all. However, I only buy triple AAA titles, so my purchases are never that much. I also trade games on a site called tradegamesnow. The rest I just rent from gameznflix. PC games are always on sale, even 49.99 releases can be had in no time for like 29.99. I think the only PC game I bought this year was battlefield 2142. I got it for like $24 on ebay.

EDIT - Also got Half-Life 2 Episode 1 and Sin Spisode 1, each was 7.99 at Circuit City.

As others have said, it depends on the game. Currently I have such a backlog of unplayed games that I usually wait for used copies and player reviews before picking up a game. The exception are collector's editions of certain games, which tend to disappear. I'm still glad I grabbed WoW collector's when it was out as it's impossible to get less than $300 now, and ditto for several other collector's sets I've purchased.

really the only time i buy new games is when i cannot find a good used one.

But take for instance when i went out to buy NCAA Football 2007, Best Buy had it new for $49.99, so I went to EB Games/Game Stop they had it new for $45.99 and used for $42.00, i went to Wal-Mart, they had it NEW for $37.95. I actually find that most of the used games unless under teh $10 mark at EB/Game Stop are only really a few dollars under the actual new game price, and i would rather have the new game for a few more dollars.

When I got my Xbox 360, I only bought 1 game new and that was Gears. All the other games I bought were used. Unfortunately, I'm back in Germany now and I pretty much have to rely on buying my games online since I'd rather not have PAL games.

I haven't been into the console thing in more than a decade, but I really only buy used if I can't find it new.

I'll always go for the used copy (provided it doesn't need some kind of CD-Key stuff) if it's available. Hell, I just picked up Viewtiful Joe (checking out some GC games now that I have a Wii) for $6.99!

I buy used whenever I can, especially on older games, but only if I can get them in the original packaging. I don't want to have a bunch of generic looking games with the titles written in sharpie on the side. Call me picky. :p

Used games are just such a better value compared to new most of the time, and if the game is in good condition, I don't see any real reason to get the new one. Man, I was in my glory picking out used GCN games for my Wii, not having owned a 'Cube myself.

I used to, but lately everything used I get from EB is beat to shit. I have much better luck with used on ebay.

I use GameAccess.ca - it's similar to zip.ca and netflix, but for games - works for me.

95% of my gaming library was bought brand new. I didn't vote, because none of the choices fit my buying pattern - if I can get it new, I will. However, for those games that I really want but can not get new because I couldn't afford it, waited too long, or bought the system to play it way after the game was released (like Suikoden 3 or Guilty Gear XX), then I will buy used. I usually don't trust second-hand anything.

I have a used game store across the street from me. I sell my own old games and buy games that I missed out on the first time around. If a game like Gears of War is coming out, I'll obviously get that ASAP, but if it's not a must have, I'll wait. For example I picked up Condemned, Call of Duty 2, and Ninja Gaiden Black used a few weeks after getting my 360.

Almost always I buy new - but being primarily a PC gamer that's not entirely surprising. I've had consoles throughout the years, but never really bought enough games that I couldn't afford to buy the few I liked new.

Of course that changed yesterday - picked up a 360 for the HD drive and was at EB games afterward... saw the buy 2 used get the third free deal and went for it. For the 360 I don't really see a problem buying used - as long as the disk is scratch free it shouldn't really matter - no reg keys to be worried about... no Final Fantasies that must be bought new...

So - I'm more or less converted into buying used.

My main complaint about ebay are the retarded shipping fees that seem to have started being slung around over the last few years. Sure there are sellers that don't gouge, but searching through the hundreds that do is a pain in the ass.

Yeah, I always look closely at them. I recently scored a mint copy of Capcom vs SNK 2 on ebay for $5 + $5 shipping. Yeah that seems like gouging, but it goes for $20 used at EB, so I felt pretty good about it.

if you have an EBGames/Gamestop discount card, you get 10% off used purchases (and also gain an additional 10% on trade-ins) ... this doesn't seem like much at first but it adds up. For example, if a new game costs $59.99 new, and $54.99 used, with your discount card, you pay roughly $49.49 + tax for it, so you save about $10 versus the new game. You can usually find a used game shortly after release for $54.99 once people beat them and bring them back, so unless it's a MUST HAVE :D I try to wait for a used copy.

I buy used games games a lot, but I only buy them if they have the manual and orgional cd case. I hate buying a game that doesn't have this. I typically don't buy new, because I hate to pre-order. I will also rent a lot of games and buy them from Gamefly if I really like them.

Yes but only when they are cheap. Not like the ones from Gamestop or BB where they have cut a whole $3 off a $60 game. Buying one of these is the biggest rip off ever.

You don't know how much I love that.

Gamestop

New copy - $50
Used copy - $45, possibly without a box/manual, or with a beat up box/manual, and scratches.

But many still buy the used.

I try to buy used if I can (from forums, not ebay), but I'll also check out play-asia.com or current weekly deals if the prices are good. I got GRAW from play-asia for $43 shipped when the game was still $60 here. Picked up Kameo used for $15, and got PD:Z at BB on sale for $20.

I did bite the bullet and pay full price for R6:Vegas, though. It was worth it, this game is a blast.

You need another option "Depends on the quality of the used game" i like manuals and if i can get the cd and case with manual in good condition used then yes if not ill shop around to find it as cheap as possible new.
