I'm getting a Gigabyte 965P-DS3 and an Intel E6600. I was thinking of getting some CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) ram. I know corsair is usually very reliable and stable. I'm planning on just doing light over clocking or none at all, and was wondering if this is the fastest, most stable, and best value I can get or if you guys would recommend something else?

For mild overclocking the TWIN2X2048-6400C4 kit (PROMOS based) is very reasonably priced. I have gotten them from 800 to 900-1000 fairly easily in the lab, provided you relax the latency to CAS5.

Also, if you want a real value, you can always try our standard TWIN2X2048-6400 which is rated at CAS5, but can sometimes be a suspiciously good performer. However, that's hit or miss.

One of the nice things about the DS3 is that you can use memory dividers to run your memory close to stock speed while still overclocking the FSB for the processor. For more seroius overclocking, consider the TWIN2X2048-8500C5, which you can hit 1066 MHz with at CAS5, on just about any 965 or 680i board.

I wouldnt touch the corsair , I got those exact sticks without realising it was now a different chip and it sucked for overclocking, also one of the sticks is bad and gives random BSOD, fails orthos and memtest

If you bought them before 11/28 you're eligible for the exchange program, and if one of our modules is bad they have a lifetime warranty and we'll replace them free of charge.

I think that's more than fair.

I'm getting a second pair of c5d;s.

On a side note

The c4d promos do OC well. I got on more than one occasion 1000+ mhz on them. But with a higher processor OC, and lower memory devider, I got 935mhz ram, and 3.51ghz processor.

I have a DS3. It's broke, but I have one. What ya need to do, reguardless of the ram you get, is set it's ram devider to 2.0, 2.5, or 2.66 in bios I've recieved better results doing that.
