Just got a new laptop. Averatec 2370.

It had a free version of Zone Alarm installed.
I tried to upgrade to a full version and it wouldnt.

Now when I've been starting up the computer it's been having problems.
It comes to the login screen just fine. Then I try to login and it stays stuck on a blank desktop. The only way around this I found was to Logoff then log back on and I get in. But if I restart or shutdown and come back up it will do the same thing.

I think it has something to do with the Zone Alarm problem.

I go into the services and try to disable the TrueVector service but it says "Access Denied."

Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried booting into safe mode, and then uninstalling/installing things?

I dont see an option during bootup to start in safe mode.
To get the option, you will need to press the F5 key at the right time before Windows has a chance to start. If you have trouble timing it, you can usually get away with just pressing F5 over and over during startup until it gets to that spot.

F8 got me into safe mode.

I disabled the TrueVector and everything seems to be working great again.

Thanks guys.
