How much more of a speed difference would I gain by going from a standard IDE Hard Drive to a SATA Hard Drive? Isn't there like a 150 SATA and 300 SATA? I'll be upgrading my HDD soon and I dont know what to get. Im really looking for a 160gig HDD, but I was considering a Raptor as well. Dont know if i'll get the raptor though, as it's a little more pricey. Give me your thoughts please!! Thanks.

There is not much difference (as you might feel it) in terms of small files (less than 1GB) transfer between SATA and IDE as I've experienced it. But I suggest you should go for SATA-II. I don't know anything (other than that they are little noisier) about high rpm drives (raptors).

the SATA (or SATA2) interface allows for a higher transfer rate... but no desktop hard drives get near the current max for PATA anyway. It has smaller cables, and I prefer the power cable as well (which i why i bought a SATA DVDRW :D)
