Im going to be board this weekend so i decided to sign up for the WoW 10 day trial, i never played Warcraft, i did play Starcraft. IS this a hard game ot learn? Thanks

Is it hard to learn? No. Are 90% of players still awful and clueless? Yes.

I honestly thought it was one of the easiest games I ever played to pick up. Since I started playing they also added little menu hints when u first start the game.

You should have no trouble picking it up.

If my three year old nephew can play, you'll be fine :D

It's easy to learn, difficult to master.

Dotk is absolutly correct.

WoW is the easiest game I have ever played, took me a day to learn, and a few months to master. PvP is dictated by gear, PvE is dictated by common sense. To get gear, you must PvE. Therefore WoW is about common sense. Unfortunatly 90% of the people playing it possess no common sense.

I had a 60 rogue in a high end raiding guild, then I sold my account because the game was just BORING at 60, log in, raid 5 hours, log off frustrated because 15 people can't listen to directions, or lack the all important "common sense." Those two things are required in all the boss fights, that is it.

Back to his statement. It is true that WoW is incredibly easy, and it is also true that 90% of the players are plain awful, and play way too much, to suck so much.

the most difficult part of the game is dealing with imcopetent people. Anyone with any sort of common sense will be labelled an elitest and then some guy who has never used more than 3 keys on a keyboard will start causing drama. its lame.

Ok i installed it, played for about a hour just killing animals and getting copper and jerky, is that all you do???? I have no idea what the point of the game is. What do alot of people do in the server.

its an rpg. do quests, kill mobs, gain exp, get gear

pretty much

the entire leveling span involves a couple of cities around the entire world for your level group, like your beginning city will move you to level 5 probably max, move on down the road get to the next one and it'll get you to level 12, and so on and so forth

all you do is go out kill mobs that will give you xp, or go to the city pick up a whole slew of quests, some of them are entertaining 99% of them how ever is kill XXX of something come back, do the same thing for a slightly harder to kill mob, usually ends up in you summoning a named, kill him and end the quest line. along the travels you get to see some fairly cool things, one of my favorites in the caves, most of them aren't typical caves and usually end up going very deap and suprising you, giving you huge caverns or very cool ring-style events

i'd say when you get up to your 40's you'll start seeing some more group oriented content which gets you better gear, over all the only thing to keep up with while leveling (because you have zero skills to wory about) is your trade skills. grab them early and get it done as you come across the parts, it will save time in the long run

The game starts out slow when you don't know a lot about it. It will probably even seem boring, feel like it takes you forever to do anything, and you will be completely lost. This is normal. Once you become more used to the game, learn how to quest more effectively, and get more abilities the pace will pick up quite a bit and you won't feel lost. You can expect this to happen around level 20 or so.

You should provide us with more information about your character - what race and class is he? Also, if you would explain what you would like to do in the game we can probably help steer you towards the best class to fit that role.

Yup it starts out slow but it picks up.
As an example, when you begin you probably have 2 or 4 skills on your hotbar and that's it, once you pass lvl40 however most people will have 2 or 3 hotbars full of skills/spells/items (depending on class and personal preference) and at 60 some people have a 4 hotbars full and lacking space.

Also, quest quest quest... some of the later ones are truely fun and interesing.
Don't just kill mobs for no reason, I guess less than 15% of my total mob kills have been non quest related.

I like to divide my time between quests and pvp battlegrounds (the first one has lvl ranges 10 - 19 and is a ctf type deal), makes it so I don't get sick and tired of doing the same thing all the time.

My first, last and only QFT in 8 years

im a level 28 hunter and with hunters u cant wear mail armor until lvl 40, and the missions available to me right now are a bit daunting, im in a clan but have yet to group with anyone, i guess i need to.

other day talk about being PISSED OFF, im on shattered hand PVP a level 22 rogue ganked me like 4 effing TIMES, a lvl 22 rogue killed a lvl 28hunter with pet. even if i got jump on him as far as sending pet to attack, then hitting with concussion, i have decent sword, but best i keep distance and hit with arcane, sting, and multi-shot, either way he literally hit me with Rend or whatever it is, then ran circles around me. boi was i frustrated.(or hitting with concussion, then send pet, then shooting sting, arcane etc.. guy jus seemed invincible.

im not sure if i will keep up with WOW, not sure how soon, but i plan on joining my bro on EQ2, it looked a bit better, and maybe more in-depth.only time will tell.

not sure if i should continue with my lvl5 night elf rogue or just make a paladin.

The game changes significantly at 60. EQ2 may be slightly more in-depth, but most people I've talked to have classified end game EQ2 as being incredibly boring. I know of quite a few people who switched to WoW from EQ2 after raiding in EQ2 for a while and said that raiding in WoW is significantly better.

yup that's it!! can you believe 7 million ppl have played it, me included? its point is to live virtually and hide from RL

I play only a few hours a night and have 2 60's and a third on the way already (60 warlock and holy priest and a 40 hunter plus numerous alts). Would join a guild but don't want to join then not be able to raid hardly at all due to work.
Like people have said, it does pick up once you get up in level. Some of the class quests are nice and can give you some nice items if you have the patience to complete them. The level 40 warlock quest to get a horse is nice because it's free. The level 60 warlock horse is even better but costs money unless you can get the items needed by gathering or friends.
(You can pick a crafting or gathering skill to make money or sell, or just to be able to make stuff because it's fun.)
Just play the way you like and see where it takes you. If your bored on a character, roll an alt and play that a little. What happens is up to you to a point.

Don't sign up! It's not worth the anguish it will cause to yourself along with your friends and family! :(

I played WoW for almost a year. IMO guilds make or break your WoW experience. With a good guild, raids will be fun and less time consuming and gear will be easier to attain. Bad guilds ruin a lot of people experience. Raiding guilds do take up time so I eventually had to quite because I have a full time job now and have better things to do.

Only thing I'll warn people about is that joining a good guild is pretty tough. It's very much based on who you know in the game and in real life in some cases. Most of the good guilds will want to see how well you work together with them. As in you need to "tryout".

Anyone can play WoW, it's an easy game to play. Learning how to raid efficiently and effectively with 39 other people is the key to success.

However, WoW IS fun if you play with the right people and I'll admit, it's probably the most addicting game on the planet. And I mean clinically addicting.

Then you have no reason to be in this thread....other than to troll of course.

The game begins at 60, if you don't enjoy it then you probably didn't roll the right class for you. (My opinion anyway)

If you were in a high end raiding guild then why were you only doing zg and aq20? 20 Mans much? High end guilds focus on the likes of AQ40, BWL (mostly just for gear, not for progress) and Naxx

When you get to 60 it's really about occupying yourself. Go pvp, go get some gear, do whatever you want. Level your professions if you like, make money for your epic mount, there literally is so many options, but it comes down to having a character you enjoy playing.

At low levels Rogue's are one of the most powerful classes, once it gets a bit later Hunters are pretty much the anti-rogue, sit on your traps and flares, throw up a dot on em so they can't just vanish or restealth once they sap and combat drops, really isn't too hard, just a matter of learning to play your class.

Things will pick up ;)

how to get into a guild.

1. play a healer

How to bore your self to death:

1. be a healer

<-Retired 60 UD Priest, recovered addict

I always had soooo much more fun killing things than I did healing them :D

It was always interesting trying to explain to my non-WOW playing friends how it was "fun" to wait around for an hour, passing the time by dancing and consuming various shape-shifting items, only to start a raid, click on the short health bars, and mash the 2/3/4 key for a few minutes until somebody fucked something up and caused me to die.

Killing people on the other hand... I don't think there was ever a time where I got tired of mind-controlling someone and forcing them to jump off a cliff or into some lava. :D

errmmm back on topic:

There are reasons that millions of people play WOW. It can be a lot of fun (especially if you are playing with friends!) and it is really easy to pick up. Just make sure that you are playing because you enjoy doing the quests, exploring alone or with your friends, competing with others, or perhaps because you actually role play. If you get sucked into the cycle of trying to obtain items and experience for the sake of increasing your personal power or standing, the game can turn into a total life vacuum.

Oh, and my best piece of advice: STAY AWAY from the forums and from sites such as thottbot and alakazam, trust me!

i was a druid. even with the best of the best, i didnt get to kill people very easily either. its not fun to outlast someone to death. although it was kinda funny with all the heal bitch gear on, have fun killing me when i have 2 hots ticking for 800-900 and unlimited mana

and thottbot and the wow forums are great places if you wanna fuck with some stupid people.

I sucked at WoW.. all the mindless, senseless ridiculously long, arduous, idiotically boring grinding for every little thing made it so when I went to finally raid at 60, my brain was reflexively turning off as soon as it saw the game title screen.

That's why 90% of the people suck at raids! Their brains have gone numb from all of the grinding!

I'd have to disagree with your statement. Gear doesn't dictate PVP, if you got brains and know how to play your char you can beat that person in rank 14 gear. Seen it happen so much, brains > gear. But gear does help.

I had full tier 2 and some 2.5, what we're you reading?

AQ40 needs 40 people paying attention, in MC and BWL you can get away with 15 idiots, not in Ahn'Qiraj, thats when I quit, and my guild fell apart. From #1 horde guild on server to gone in a few months.

Can't say i've ever been beat by a person in greens... or 5-man blue gear...

Their health is so low a non crit ambush +crit backstab would kill any clothy not in epic gear...
