8800GTX gift from Mr. Nvidia!!!

This all started because I paid homage to NVIDIA with my shrine/case mod entry at GeForce Lan 3.

Yes I'm filipinoe, born in the Phillipines and speak a little tagalog. Being filipinoe, I have been raised catholic and as of this past Sunday, added Jen-Hsun and co in my prayers. And will increase my humble offerings to ISIDORE of Seville patron saint of computers and the internet.

-So say we all.
-Thanks [H] and thank you J-man.

Ahh - so they let peeps with case mods to compete have the end of table spots so they can show the machine off and play at the same time?? that's what killed it for me on the previous lan.. I entered the case mod comp, but that was my gaming rig also.. I thought there would be much more to do as a spectator but it got old after about 5 hours.. anyways.. nice shrine! :)

No, it was almost like last years. If your case was choosen as one of the 3 finalists in your category then it was placed on display with others. I didn't place so I'm not sure if the finalists had to stay with their cases to explain them to the judges.

Hey can I get more pics of your case? I'm really interested in it.. It looks like its made out of gigantic lego's? :D

Some close ups and side shots and stuff would be cool! :)

Long story short:

I went to Nvidia's Reality tour event in Silicon Valley.
Jen-Hsun Huang shows up and buys 2 8800GTX's and a 680i mobo for his daughter.
I go over to say hi (and hopefully a get a 2nd picture) and ask about his purchases and recommend Zalman 9700.
Fry's upper store management radio's someone to bring him a 9700.
For staying up for 42 hours at Geforce lan and comming down to the tour event he asks the counter person for one more 8800GTX, and buys it as a gift for me.

you are one lucky pinoy. wish i got lucky like that

Congratulations, Glen...

By the way, in spanish nVidia sounds exactly like "envidia" (spanish word for "envy"). Uhhmmm... why I have remembered it now? :p

Anyway, Mr. Huang have to visit Spain (with or without that nice cart).

jenhsunhuangandputmynamehereatdontmindwhereai7.jpg
actually wrong. nVidia in spanish is ene vidia, which does not sound like envy. The n in nVidia is to be pronounced as a letter, therefore in spanish nVidia is more like enay veedeeuh

Wait so he is the co-founder of Nvidia but he needs to wait until the release date to buy his company's products?

It's all a show. Kinda like a Jedi mind trick.... Because most people are stupid and follow the lead of others, if fans see "Mr. Nvidia" buying a brand new video card for 650 bucks, they will feel more comfortable buying
it for themselves. He sweetened it by buying a card for a "common man"...its good PR...makes people jealous and want to have one for themselves. You'd be a jackass to think anything else.

Like a rap star driving an Escalade full of phat-assed women in a music video....Cadillac knows that all the brothers will literally kill each other for an Escalade.

For the event, yes, but for the gift I dont know save for the fact that no other camera or media person was there at the cashier except for me. Now the GeForce Lan, that was a hell of a show.

YOU'RE the publicity....he knew how big of a fan you were and how you'd tell others. For 650 bucks (that will probably come out of his company account and be written off as a business expense), he bought at least 100,000 dollars worth of "word-of-mouth" publicity aimed directly at his target demographic. Plus i'm sure he thought you were a good dude. He wouldn't have bought it for you if he didn't like you. Small acts of kindness can be very profitable, though. Don't feel bad, all celebrities and spokes people whore themselves for goods and services. I would have taken that GTX in a minute. But he wouldn't have bought one for a smart-ass like me...

Greta is just jealous

Actually, i'm really not. I have a GTS...paid full price for it and could care less that our friend got one for free. I just have a pet peeve when people's sensibilities are so easily usurped by such an obvious ploy to get good PR. I guess I just can't believe people are that dumb and really don't know it. I mean, they REALLY have no clue. I find that to be infinitely vexing.
If i'm jealous of anything, it's the power and tactics of big business and how they use people's naivete.

Actually, you are the fool. I was commenting on the lan, not anything to do with his video card. I could care less. LAN's are awesome, and that lan looked spectacular.

And fuck you anyways. Who are you to come on here and insult people?

Yeah, I'm sure he asked him if he was a poster on a major forum before he bought him the video card. Probably made him sign a contract saying he would post about it and include a picture as proof   Then he hired ninjas with lasers to infiltrate the Pentagon and fix major league baseball.

Ladies... please calm down. We're skipping over the most importart part of this thread.

Pics of his daughter. Christ...

Were all part of this vicious circle. The GeForce Lan was an awesome lan, an awesome publicity vehicle, an awesome event. Having these "Reality Tour" days was also an awesome publicity vehicle. Jen-Hsun was awesome for his gift, I am awesome for being such a fan, Greta is awesome for being a "smart ass", Astrogiblet is awsome because his name is cool, this thread is awesome, this sub-forum is awesome, Uncle Phil is awesome, The Mowers Clan and the US of A is awesome.

Is there any other awesomeness that I have forgotten about? Oh yeah wait a minute Notoes, Battlestar Galactica and the BF2142 tourney was awesome, AMD_Gamer is awesome (venice core in the hizzy). MAMEMAN and Dru Henry from NVIDIA is awesome.

{edit}yoink{/edit}

Nothing like a little girl joke to cut the tension is there.

Well, before I get more OT (and subsequentially warned by Lethal) I'm going to congratulate the OP. That's awesome. The fact you got to MEET him, would overthrow the awesomeness of getting the card IMO.

Although... a girl that shares the same interest in computer hardware is [h]ot :)

kuyaglen > Did you call him a noob towards the end of the video? :p

I've known glen now for over almost 2 years since joining [TMC]themowersclan and attending lans. Its save to say that he never has to worry about a being underpowered in the GPU area.

gpus glen has won since i've known him:

7800gtx on release: geforce lan 2.0
7950gx2 : showdown lan
8800gtx: free from mr. nvidia

lets not forget the countless, cases, psus, random stuff hes gotten at lans.
