My new 8800GTX Rig

Get a good 400gb seagate hdd in addition to the raptor so you don't run out of space :)

The XFi will give you alot of cracking sounds, I had one and my ears couldn't take it so i got a audigy 4 and it better all around.

I dont want my case to be TOO massive. The p180 seems like the best all-around compromise.

Also you are the first person I have heard to speak badly about the x-fi? Does anyone else have any problems with it?

The sound card is a waste. Get another HDD with that money. I'd go with a Seagate 320GB drive with perpendicular recording.

I'd also rather buy a Gigabyte Aurora or Thermaltake Armor case.

Well i went ahead and placed the order and i ditched the sound card =P

Thanks for everything guys I will keep this thread up to date. Total price with shipping, ca tax. and electronic tax and everything came out to $2300. Not bad if you ask me

hey juice nice rig...ok from what i read of your posts, you bought that 750w PSU for a possibility of SLI? i mean with one card your already having trouble of fitting and now 2? how's that going to work?maybe time for a new case again?or you'll have all your drives laying on the bottom of the case?also how about the PSU, i have a question too, is there a performance difference with the modular and the standard PSU??<<<<<need help on that Question too... but your rig looks awesome...

Well see the case actually does have room for two 8800GTX's. To use both of them though you have to have nothing in the middle bay. The top bay holds all of your optical drive and the bottom drive holds 2 HDs. The one person who had his HD lying out like that probably had 3 or more which I am not going to have. So hence the case is actually fine in my situation. not so much in his

i see...how about on the modular PSU whats the performance differnce?they are same wattage right?

The xtreme audio is a software soundcard according to the creative forums. Either step up to an xtreme music or use onboard.

Get Crucial 10th anniversary memory if you are going to OC at all, its amazing stuff :)

werd, this stuff is awesome.

Yep it does fit. Just can't put a drive in the upper slot of the upper drive cage.

The X-Fi runs well on my machine no Crackling or popping noises at all

http://home.sc.rr.com/seanmcd/DSCF9201.jpg here's a pic for you: same case, similar heatsink, middle drive bay removed. (oh and messy cables. I don't care anymore, I don't look at it as the case is always closed properley unless I'm adding/removing hardware. As long as it's not a complete rats nest and blocking major airflow...)

newegg is going to love you. with that kind of money they should give you the sound card for free lol

Looks very similar to the build I'll be making later this year. Except Ill be using a Striker Extreme board, G.Skill memory, and a 320GB WD for media storage in addition to the raptor.

Plus I wanted to use the TJ09 as my case, but looking at that HD rack and the internal 120mm fan deck.. I'm going to have to wait and see if someone can get the 8800's to fit in there.

And.. I'm getting a different PSU more than likely.

So other than the 8800GTX and the 6600.. it really won't be the same build. ;)

Lol newegg should have given me a new sound card AND a g15.

With the P180 and the scythe heatsink I am trying to decide what I should overclock my e6600 too. I am thinking 3.4ghz? what do you guys have yours OC'd to?

You blink and they do 3.2 on stock cooler, you should be able to do 3.6

congrates on your rig dude

Well newegg just charged my card and shipping all my parts out. Should be here in 3 days (Got the cheap ground shipping).

Does anyone know if they leave it on your door or have you sign for it?

Don't know if it's already been said but you should have gotten the ~$90 Extreme Gamer. It does hardware EAX, the Audio does not. Other than that very nice purchases. Your case, cpu, video, and ram are exactly the same ones I'm using ('cept I got the black P180). I didn't even know Silverstone made PSUs! :p

EDIT - nvm looks like you got the black P180 too... shipped by UPS judging by the condition of the box in those pics

Good old UPS. Shipping packages in PRISTINE condition

The good thing is I didn't get ANY soundcard so I can always go to fry's and pick one up no biggy =). The 90$ extreme gamer is a good sound card?

Oh, I could have sworn one of the links in your OP was to the $65 Xtreme Audio X-Fi. As for whether or not the $90 Xtreme Gamer is "good," well... it beats the hell out of my onboard and it has the all-important Intel standard Front Panel connector, so it's good enough for me, but I'm sure there are probably "1337er" cards out there. I think it's a nice balance of price and performance though.

I feel bad for the 56kers with you quoting my photo post but anyways =P, I am busy ATM so I haven't had a chance to put it together yet. I will keep this thread updated with pics as I am building the PC so everyone can see if everything fits.

Unless he takes out the top drive age a 8800gtx will not fit. With the drive cage in a gts barely fits. So, either homeless drives or you will put them all in the bottom cage. Sometimes the bottom cage can be a pain.
