Well I had a horrible experience with Page Computer, a place I can not recommend and would never order from again.
That said does anyone know of a good place to order this from now and I really would like one that would at least take returns if there are any dead pixels or problems, as so many wont. Also if any are open tomorrow to speak to them would be really nice, most seem to be closed on weekends anymore.
Thanks, hope you all are enjoying yours!

Do you want a retail store like bestbuy or dont you mind to order over the net? if you can buy over the net i'd go with technoweb. around $1220 shipped

Anyone order from Page Computer? I did on the 30th and it took them two days just to get my order in due to some weird personal check on me for the visa. But now its the 3rd and it still hasnt even shipped, WTF!!!
I'm calling today, if its not going out I'm cancleing and going with someone else, they need to get their act together real fast.
Anyhow hope you are all enjoying your Westy37, looks like it will be another week for me in any case.
i got it from Page Computer, they need a bank card information = the billing address as the phone number as well

they had a good customer chart, also you can ask them for their phone number
for me, it only took a week between the day i bought and the day i got it
their web site never update status, just call them

technoweb sucks, it always cost cheaper than other but always out of stock

Well I ordered on Monday the 30th, had plenty in stock. Then on Tuesday they called and I missed it, I spent all day calling and leaving messages trying to get back in touch with the sales person , actually anyone, handling my account. Just about 4pm I finally got customer service to get the sales person on my account to pick up, after having tried this several times during the day. I find then stupidly they actually had to call me to verify the information even though I was on the phone with her at that moment. Ok so we play the stupid game, she gets all my information. They check any moving status you have had in the last 3 months, ok, so finally about 5 or so they got everything cleared through the bank and their system.
2 days down now, Wednesday it shows in process, still plenty of Tv's as I looked on the site and called. They just said it was in process and sent to warehouse for picking.
3 days down, Thursday morning I think stock still showed ok, still nothing on my order though. I start calling and they just say its in process. Later that day the status of stock goes to 2 left. I'm thinking ok my order has to be going through now, they are selling them and went form several in stock to two. Ive paid, its cleared so whats the hold up.
4 days down and Friday I call again, and get a sales man. He wanted me to call customer service (yeah right), but he then decided to help after I told him what had gone on. They still show 2 in stock. After explaining and asking questions he assured me it was going out that day and I would get verification it was by email. You would think he was talking to someone that would know, someone that would also know about stock and what they have. So I'm asking are you sure and he responds yes. Ok Ill wait. Then I check all day and nothing, finally I call about 3 and guess what? "OH were sorry we canceled your order today as we are out of stock now", I was pissed. I said let me get this straight, I order and you have plenty, you let me hang out all week and I watch the stock go down to 2 left, then you keep waiting and I get squat! Right?? I said I paid, it cleared 4 days ago, you had more than 2 in stock so whats up? Were sorry(too bad so sad). I said you are right for once, if you let anyone hang out long enough your stock will run out!! YOU SUCK!!!
Here is the kicker, she says oh by the way we will refund your CC soon. WTF??
Im like oh wait a minute, so now you charged me for a product you now say you never had now that you left me hanging and let it run out?? I said what were you just borrowing my money or something, how can you charge me for something you dont have??I said as a business YOU SUCK, of course the Asian girl again says Were sorry, have a good day.
Thats about it almost step by step, I will never do business with them agian.

That's crazy, Jakespeed.

I just ordered mine from Newegg on Thursday. I picked the free shipping and it is scheduled to arrive on Monday.

Yeah, I feel that buying from a reputable place greatly outweighs the cheap price of some other places and I would be more than happy to shell out the extra dough for something like a TV or larger item. Problems like that don't need to arise when you're dealing with that much money, imo.

For those of you having bad experiences with resellers online, make sure you post a negative review at: http://www.resellerratings.com A lot of the time these companies monitor complaints there plus it helps others be aware of their shady practices and avoid them.

fairly similar to what im going through, i bought on tuesday night and order status on PC Universe is still 'waiting for wire transfer' now there is no stock so i dont know.

I have the 42" version of this tv... anyways..

I realize this tv has a 8ms response time but I have been noticing something disturbing on the 360. In NBA 2k7 I am noticing pretty significant motion blur especially in during fast action (shooting or passing).. bascially everything goes out of focus for 2 or 3 seconds at a time... very annoying and nausiating. Is anyone else noticing this in NBA 2k7 or any other fast action paced games??

Well I have ordered from Crutchfield now. As someone mentioned its better to pay a little more, 1500 with 100 extended warranty for 3 yr. total, then to buy from a shady outfit and get the shaft. They have 30 day moneyback and said would replace with pixel issues, shipping via some freight so the tv doesnt get bounced around by small trucks. So in a week I should be set, now about whether to put it in place of my tv now or on a desk. While in the tv area and on the stereo sounds great, there is no place for keyboard or mouse rest, or wheeel mount for driving games, even wireless items need a rest. I may just be going with a desk for this one, any thoughts appreciated.
thanks

If you're running it in 1080i then that's probably why. The display is made for a progressive input so you're going to see some blurring with an interlaced signal.

No.. im running it via VGA with the new 1080p update. After some more testing.. I can notice some motion blur in GRAW but nothing as severe.

For anyone out there that is a gamer (especially fast paced)... how happy are you guys with this monitor?

All I play is FPS games (BF2, UT2004, COD2, etc.) and I love this monitor...no problems/issues whatsoever. So I guess you could say I'm very happy with this monitor :D

i havent played any games yet to answer this questions, but i do notice a little ghosting just a small bit in the hd discovery channel, but it could be because of what the guy said after you, cause its running in 1080i, i dont have a 360 to tell with a game, but im hoping when i get the ps3 (in 11 DAYS!!!) there wont be any ghosting in the games....

thing is you have to look at reviews from companies or websites who just do reviews, cause if your counting on reviews from people who already have it, your more than likely not gonna get the bad things about it, because people dont wanna say theres something wrong with their tv after they just spent all of that money on it, so they will only tell you the good things....me, im happy with the tv, the ghosting in the discovery theater channel isnt enough to notice unless your looking for it, i'll be able to see how it displays games in 11 days!

I was originally going to order the Benq FP241W and it is a great display for the price range however lack of 1:1 mapping killed it for me and NewEgg was/is running a sale on the Westy 37" and so for a few hundred more, I got myself the Westy 37" 1080p and man I'm so glad I did. It rocks and here's my review for those of you who are on the border between the Benq and the Westy. You won't be disappointed is all I have to say if you decide to spend the extra dough and get the Westy from Newegg...

WESTY 37" REVIEW
--------------------------------

Got this Westy 37" about a week ago from NewEgg with the added discount (which is no longer valid I believe) and free shipping. What a great deal! NewEgg rocks major! No dead pixels although UPS scared me with the box being torn pretty badly but I checked it out before signing.

Black levels are much better than I expected as is text. Hardly any visible backlight leakage even at highest backlight level. No changes in color even at the widest viewing angles. Much better than my old Projection TV which sux major unless you're viewing it dead on! Very little/minor ghosting/page tearing. Completely bearable and a good tradeoff since this has 16.7 million colors and not 262,000....

Screen is about the max I would get for my computer set up. Fits perfect on my desk and only weighs about 45 pounds and can be lifted and moved easily and even though it is 37", it sits flat up against my wall and spares my entire desk which used to be taken up entirely by a single 24" CRT!!! I can actually do my work now! Runs nice and cool in comparison, no radiation, no flicker, and no eyestrain or headaches!

Ran the 1080p test vids from Microsoft and my jaw dropped. 1080p is the future. Was about to buy the Benq 241W but I'm so glad I spent the extra $$ and bought this. This kicks the benq to the curb in my opinion! 1:1 Mapping is outstanding with the OPTION to have fill if you want it! REMOTE is very convenient to adjust backlight, fill modes, volume, and powering on/off!

Could not be happier with this purchase! 2 DVI's and 1 HDMI (which can be expanded to more with an HDMI hub/switch), components, SVid, Composites... too many inputs to list! HDCP compliant...PIP...Built in speakers ... Truly 16:9 so no black bars on 1080!! Also accepts audio properly on HDMI and all inputs have corresponding audio's!

Definitely get this and order it from NewEgg and save $$. You won't be disappointed!!

And this review comes from the most skeptical guy on this board so trust me, I'm super picky. This will tide you over till SED hits the market!

wonder if there will be any hawt christmas specials on this monitor :p you people are driving me nuts on this thing, I want one now!

Thanks for the review Waitandsee :D

As far as I know, the Sceptre is not the same. I was looking at the Sceptre when I was trying to decide which display to get, and after reading the reviews, I chose the Westinghouse. I haven't seen the Sceptre in action, but I can tell you that I love my westy. It's my most prized possession. It's absolutely gorgeous.

Well I just checked the status of my order from BUYDIG.COM, and it's still "processing" I even tacked on 1-2 day shipping. It was 1199.00 when I ordered it Thursday. I just went to the site and they now show none in stock, and the price has been jacked to 1499.00
So help me if they don't fullfill my order at the price I paid...

edit: OH HELL NO.. Just checked my account, they charged my card, and then credited me back that same day! NO EMAIL from them telling me this either. This was on the 3rd!

Time to slander BUYDIG.COM to the end of the Earth.

Once you know, you Newegg.

Well, I would post some pics but my digital camera on my mobile phone really sux (duh) and wouldn't do the display justice. Once I get a good digital camera soon, I'll upload one sometime but all I can say is that you have to see it in person to believe the crispness and quality esp. at 1080p. It IS truly stunning! And text is perfect at this dot pitch for this size. I was completely wrong and I have 0 eye strain now and no headaches. Man I am glad I dumped my CRT...

I am going to be getting an upconverting DVD player/signal convertor for this display and I can only imagine that once I have a PS3 with Blu-Ray player, I will prefer all my movies in Hi-Def format from now on because once you're spoiled watching 1080p, it is hard to go back (although I watched a few regular dvd movies yesterday and they all looked fantastic as well ..just not AS great as 1080p!!!)..

720p and 1080i from the Digital TV look wonderful also. Football in HD never looked so clear. You feel like you can jump in and enter the huddle!

When you get this display, make sure you download those free Microsoft 1080p videos from their site and it is truly amazing to see the clarity...

Did I mention that the size of the display makes you feel like you're IN THE GAME? I was playing CALL OF DUTY and the display is so large and wide that you feel like you're actually there. Completely different experience!

Oh and did I already boast that I have a 37" freakin display on my desk and yet it freed up my entire desk space!!! I can actually use my desk! The thing is so thin, it is so hard to believe! And it doesn't heat up my room like my CRT did. Westinghouse did a great job on this one. Big thumbs up to their engineers.

DVI CONNECTIONS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE DISPLAY!! So you don't have to worry about your computer being on one side or another! Totally brilliant and thoughtful design. And because of the remote, you don't have to even worry about the controls on the right side. They hid them so beautifully so they don't look ugly in the front.
(2 component inputs are on the LEFT side of the display to answer your previous question and HDMI is on the right)

P.S. Rule of Thumb, Stick with the most reputable sellers on the net to save yourself time and aggravation. That's why I went with NewEgg over BuyDig and some of the others. I read too many negative Buydig reviews on resellerratings. NewEgg is one of the few sites that has real time inventory and keeps you notified every step of the way on your order.

Has anyone used the 42" version as a PC monitor? I'm wondering if the dot-pitch will be a little too much for crisp text. I'm re-ordering today, and the 42 is looking good.

The 42" looks amazing as a PC monitor. The only thing is that sitting up close to a 42" monitor is not the best thing to do. The amount of light coming off that thing alone is enough to make you go blind! If you are planning to use it as a monitor make sure you set it up so that you have at least 6 feet between you and the screen. Even at 8 feet small text is very legible and gaming is great.

That's all I needed to hear :D

I've been planning on buying the 42" for awhile, but no real need to yet. my current computer is a 2 year old laptop, and my Desk top is close to 5... But Soon enough I'll have me one of these, Nice thing is price keeps dropping. Any 1 know if the holiday season will raise prices or make them lower due to competition between resellers.. If only my Economics teacher could se me now.. he'd be so ashamed... :D

Ah great.. my 360 stuff is on the right, I don't know if the cords will reach. I may have to get a new desk or move my pc to the other side of it.

Hey waitandsee, how far are you sitting away from this monitor? how far do you 'recommend'?

I was planning on getting a Hyundai 32"

It has a built-in HDTV tuner, otherwise its basically the same thing -5 inches . But what does that tuner add basically, its kinda a n00b question I guess. Where will I lose out because I dont't have a built-in tuner? Because after seeing everyone getting this 37" Westinghouse I will probably be changing my mind.

The tuner to me is absolutely pointless. That's because I have a cable box from my cable company. If you have a cable box, you don't need the built in tuner.

Would somebody be so kind as to post a few pics of their westie outputting analog cable? I'd like to see just how sharty it looks :p

Exactly, if you have an LCD for TV watching, you should never watch via a built-in tuner, b/c watching SD via analog looks like ass. Most use a digital/hd cable box and go with component or HDMI; better picture quality, and usually brings down the LCD price w/out a tuner. The built-in tuner is totally pointless in my opinion.

just ordered this from newegg today, arrives wednesday :) :) :) :)

someone help me find some new wallpapers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To answer a previous question:

I'm sitting about 3 - 3.5 ft back from the monitor and that's a good distance -- you wouldn't want to sit too close. I have a keyboard/mouse tray on my desk so it helps to allow me to sit further back as well as completely free up my desk for writing and working. The monitor sits all the way at the end of my desk which is up against a wall. If I wanted to, I could take the monitor off the base as well and mount it on the wall, but I haven't found that necessary.

You definitely need to sit further back due to the size so make sure you measure your desk prior to purchase.

My desk is about 47" wide and the monitor is about 36 1/2" wide so there is a nice amount of space left over on each side with the monitor centered.

My desk is about 2 feet in depth with the keyboard tray adding another foot and my sitting back in my chair another few inches to half a foot.

Make sure your desk can hold at least 50 pounds and is sturdy and that you have the right dimensions.

If not, I would recommend the IKEA JERKER desk (63" x 31" desktop) for $99 (this version without the shelf is extra wide and deep and I might be upgrading to this soon ..you can also add two file drawers and a keyboard tray to it)...

Basically if you are going to be buying this thing, I would not recommend using Analog cable or basically anything lower than 720p. Although games in lower resolutions still look decent, you will want to use the highest resolutions possible for everything and ideally the native resolution of 1920x1080.

The reason is that this is a Hi-Def display and it was meant to be used with high quality sources. That would be like putting 87 Octane Fuel in your Ferrari and expecting great performance. Believe me, you will want the highest quality sources on this thing, otherwise don't bother purchasing it.

I'm using an HDTV Wonder Card from ATI (which is dirt cheap to buy now) as well as a cable HDTV source. The ATI card has somewhat flaky software and the antenna is annoying to adjust but it works if you don't have cable. Digital Cable is preferred obviously.

By the way, the base on the 37" westy is 23" wide by 8" in depth so you could possibly fit the display on a desk that isn't as wide as mine and just have the display hang off the sides if you wish. The LCD off the base is only like 4 - 5 inches wide so if you mount it on the wall, you save a few more inches as well. Pretty amazing depth there.

So can anyone provide cliff notes on the last 30 pages? lol :p

Does the monitor actually have drivers for it, or do you just use the microsoft generic display drivers?
