Ok, seriously Sony, what demonic possecion has taken over your company to make fucked up, twisted, lunaticall commercials like these??? What is this? I swear to God, Sony is turning to the dark side and it ain't pretty....

Oh, and computers have been able to do multiple tasks at once Sony for years, nice try....

Wow, and I used to revere and respect Sony for years but now, they could go bankrupt for all I care....

Baby and PS3

Bigger is always better?

PS3 stalks you

PS3 smarter then humans

WE'LL BE WAITING
Yes, yes we will. Kinda apt that the advert was filmed in the UK. Thought the blu-ray ad was the best of them, though very misleading. I thought showing warhawk at the end of the "cell" ad was a bad idea cos lets face it, it's hardly showing off the same visuals that they showed in the storm and snow animations. I think if they release the doll advert they'll probably have a lot of complaints from parents with freaked out kids.

they are either strange, or overestimating their audience. average joe frat fuck is going to change the channel when someone starts talking about computer chips or storage space. and that baby thing would freak me out if i was stoned.

the baby one is just disturbing if you ask me, and to boot has nothing to do with the PS3 what-so-ever.

That doesn't explain the doll, though.

An advert stuck in your head so much so that it has inspired to talk about it with others. Sony’s marketing team has done their job. That’s it, simple as that.

Now, lets just wait for the tango ad :D

I thought advertisements where meant to inform the public about a specific product or service, not jam a bunch of flashy meaningless crap down our throats. Its pretty funny how they show all these beautiful scenes like the daisies and the thunderstorm and then show clips from their games that look like crap by comparison.

Sony's so full of shit.

"Is the ps3 smater than you?"

If you buy one it is.

People are already making all sorts of "PS3 makes baby Jesus cry" jokes...

I found these commercials to be overdone and somewhat misleading. I can't decide whether these are better or worse than the "PS9" commercial.

I saw the one with the baby last night. After I watched it I turned all the lights on in the house... I haven't slept since, too afraid to sleep.

Welcome to the past 15 years!!

Wow, that's the first time that I have seen the baby one. That's just twisted... I kinda like it.

Someone, or a group of people at Sony really need to put the Reefer down and get some fresh air. What ever happened to classy looking clean ads that used to make sense? They would have been better off just airing 30 seconds of CGI rather than the crappy things they did in the ads.

The baby one at the stalker one are odd, and I don't quite see what they have to do with the system, but they do get your attention.

The Blu-Ray and the Cell commercials at least show benefits of the system compared to the competition (at least theoretical benefits in the marketing world), so they give people solid reasons to want a PS3.

As for everyone complaining about the graphics - they are youtube videos, of course they are going to look crappy, they are compressed to hell and back. It is interesting in this next-gen system era that anyone without an HDTV seeing these commercials on TV is going to see lesser graphics than what they would actually get with the system at home, even if there are partially CGI'd scenes.

i doubt these are real commercials. i just cant believe sony would do that with a baby doll. then again this is the company with the white vs black billboard.....

They may have had a point... Sorry, couldn't resist! :D

As for the baby one being memorable. Sure, but does it make you think of the PS3? Makes me think of a horror movie more than anything else.

This is genius. Step back, look at the entire effect of what's going on here. The PS3 already has an aura surrounding it, and these ads get the topic in people's heads. They don't need lengthy product brochures, just the idea.

I also want to mention something. When the "Get firefox" movement started, there was alot of resistance. Why? Nobody liked being associated with the nasty, rude, immature anti-microsoft crowd. It seems now that crowd has become the "anti-sony" crowd, and they may be providing the most potent reason for me to avoid the 360, and get a PS3.

Dude, don't claim that this is the reason that you have all of a sudden decided to buy a PS3 and avoid the X360. It's not like you were ever neutral in the console war, as you made it pretty clear which console you preferred. The way you expressed your opinions, it was pretty clear that you would never have bought an X360 anyway. Why do you think people are so pissed off at Sony? Maybe it's because Sony has said and done some incredibly dumb things lately. People hate Sony because they keep coming up with a new way to piss people off. The Sony hating started way before the console wars, starting with that root-kit thing. It's been downhill after that, as I never thought Microsoft and EA could get displaced as being the most hated company out there. You can apologize however way you want for Sony, as it's getting harder for people to do that.

I think there is a difference there. Microsoft is the newcomer to the big 3 when it comes to consoles (since Sega unfortunately had to drop out), and actually, they were somewhat of a newcomer to the web browser thing as well, if you consider that Mozilla, and hence Firefox, are somewhat based on Netscape.

I was anti-Microsoft in the web browser market from the start. First, they have to introduce Jscript, so web designers have to decide whether to use the established javascript code or MS's bastardized version, then they push Netscape right out of the market. I have not used IE since it came to the scene, if some site is so boneheaded that it loads and says you have to use IE to access it, then it is just not worth my time. Plus, added to that IE is more prone to viruses, pop-ups, spyware, and other annoying BS than any other browser out there, it is just pointless to use it. I am a die-hard Opera fan now since I really love the tabs and the way the images increase in size when you increase the text size, but Firefox isn't bad either.

I don't really get the 'anti-Sony' mentality. Sure, Kutaragi is opinionated and a bit arrogant, but when it comes to sheer features, Sony does have the best console for this gen. Also, they don't have near the same resources MS does. MS can lose millions or billions per year if only to drown out the competition. Support Sony and Nintendo, and keep MS from taking over the gaming industry like they have done with almost everything else vaguely computer related. They are about to take on the iPod head-on with then new Zune thing or whatever it is called. To me, Sony is playing the right move. They have always had the best games, and now they have the best hardware. When you are facing off against a company like MS you can't be unsure about yourself, you have to be a dick.

The rootkit thing was a complete different part of the company. Sony is a huge corporation, not every division signs off or even hears about what the others are doing. To make an analogy, I teach music at a public school. It so happens since the No Child Left Behind bill, that state standardized testing is mandated and every school in the state is rated based on these scores. There is no category for music in these tests, so I am pretty much out of the loop and out of control of what happens in these tests (as are art teachers, gym teachers, home-ec, etc, pretty much anyone but math/science/english/social-studies). However, if the students do poorly in writing for example, everyone gets the blame, no matter if that was their subject or not.

You can't blame the entire Sony corporation for the misguided decisions of their music division. Just as the 360s overheating issue had nothing to do with the operating system division of Microsoft, the rootkit thing had nothing to do with the Playstation division of Sony.

Actually... you can. At the top of each of these corporations is a CEO that can quite happily stop divisions doing stupid crap like this. I get your point and I don't entirely disagree with you but you can blame a corporation for the actions of its divisions, you just can't blame a division for the actions of another division.

I saw the baby doll one during the World Series. I believe it was game four. I swear I thought I was going to have nightmares, it was so creepy. I also thought it was pretty stupid, but hey, that's just me.

people gotta stop hating sony because it is the cool thing to do.

I so wish the PS3 rocks so all you guys can go cry to mamma

You do realise that a lot of people are hating Sony because they've brought it on themselves? Of course, if you're doing it because it's "cool" then you need to crawl under a rock somewhere...

I immediately thought of "head on, apply directly to the forehead"

Then about 90% of the sony haters need to crawl under a rock.

The rootkit was on 1 CD. Sony apologized. Sony posted removal instructions. Sony never ever did it again. And SCEA wasn't at all involved in the whole incident. What more do they have to do for you people to quit your hating?

How many sony-bashers even know what a rootkit does? How many actively protest against DRM measures being put into other (non-sony) CDs?

The people pushing the anti-sony movement have a personal vendetta. They don't care about games or us gamers; they just want to see Sony crumble.

SCEA has made plenty of stupid decisions in the past year; the fact that the rootkit was a seperate branch of Sony doesn't really change that. The entire company has suffered from asinine business decisions and inefficient products (Here's looking at you, largest laptop battery recall in history).

 They apologized because they got caught!

The only one with an agenda here is you. You're not fooling anyone; everyone here with any semblance of logic has seen the constant blunders that Sony has made throughout the year.

1. They insisted that the PS3 would launch in "Spring 2006" all the way up until March, then gave us an "Oh, lol guys, we meant November".

2. They failed with their logistics team again.

3. They let Kutaragi write checks his ass couldn't cash and he has single-handedly made the whole of Sony look like a bunch of fools.

4. They promised a measly 500K for launch and couldn't even muster that.

5. They delayed the European launch for a second time, pushing it back to next year.

6. They shut down one of the most popular online importing sites by filing lawsuits throughout the whole of the EU.

This is aside from their rootkit scandal and laptop battery recall; they're not relevant to SCEA, but they do show how far the entire company has fallen. Sony's financials are miserable at this point in time and they've basically bet their entire future on the PS3.

I think the blu ray and the cell commercial are fine. They reminded me of the first Jurassic Park with the DNA video. To be honest I kinda liked them. The commercials are long and begs the questions where will they be shown. Movie theaters are the only thing I can think of, so I suspect they will premiere with the new James Bond

The baby one I don't really understand. Maybe the baby's emotions are from all the different games you can play on the playstation?

The PS3 is stalking you commercial though I think is made by a fan and not an official sony commercial

Kinda off topic but the white room reminded me of these Linux commercials which I love to this day.

The Laptop battery recall has absolutely nothing to do with games or gamers. You people have a personal vendetta against Sony, and you are trying to hijack the gamer community in order to enact some sort of vigilante justice against Sony.

We are Gamers, not activists. Let us focus on games, not on your stupid rants against Sony.

Many, MANY people are fed up with Sony's completely arrogant attitude. They talk and talk out of what seems to be their ass, and tons of people have been pissed off by it. It's not a bandwagon that's being jumped on. If you go out and ask Joe Gamer what they think about Sony, they'll say "Oh you mean the guys that make PlayStation? OH, they are t3h godzz of t3h universe!!11!" Ask anyone that's in the know of the news, the response will be much different.

Turns out many of as at [H] are in the know of the news.

That said, please don't have this thread turn into a garbage thread.
