where is edgy eft?

Nope, one of the Ubuntu goals is to keep the install and such onto a single cd.

yeah, i noticed it was only a single cd... which is what i really wanted.. just a single disc.

all good in the hood.

would there be any noticeable jump using the amd64 version? i have tried using those in the past with suse, and i just always seem to run into stupid little incompatibility issues... same with ubuntu?

you're still going to run into 32bit apps not avail on 64 bit yet and those pita no matter what distro you run.

change your official ubuntu repos from dapper to edgy and do sudo apt-get -d dist-upgrade, presto you have edgy.

Upgraded this evening.

It broke my sound, which I managed to fix. It also made my fonts ugly, which I have fixed by turning on anti-aliasing and hinting, but now everything is really slow.

Compiz without XGL is pretty neat, but I'm not impressed otherwise.

yeah I had the same thing with fonts, it was an easy fix .......

but how is everything slow, edgy *should* have given ubuntu a nice speed burst.....it boots, and shuts down much faster. Not to mention I have found edgy to be quicker in general usage, but I did a fresh install, myself. However that being said I guess results vary for users, I have heard they have updated since hoary no problems others swear the updates never work, properly.

Font rendering is really slow now (with ant-aliasing on). When I scroll up and down on a terminal it's very noticeable. Any circumstance where there is a lot of font rendering going on I can really see it.

I didn't have this problem before, and my fonts looked fine.

Hmmm, perhaps I'll hold off on upgrading, considering how old my Linux box is. Some things already run slow enough as it is.
