My RAM dissappeared!!

I was planning on buying a 2Gb set of dual channel Crucial Ballistix PC4000 from Newegg. I just have to wait till the beginning of the month when I get my check. Well, I checked in last night and they are gone! The ones I wanted were the all black tracers, with the indicator LEDs on the top and blue on the bottom. Now all they have is the ones with the gold heatspreader (ugly IMO). They have a 1Gb set, but I am really set on 2Gb. I have looked all over for them elsewhere, but I find nothing. Does anyone know of anywhere else that I can order them from? Please hook it up, I have been waiting to order this RAM for 3 weeks.
 
Dont take this the wrong way, but GET A LIFE :cool: . Who cares what they look like, care about how they perform. I had the 2x1GB Ballistix PC4000 ram last year (w/ the gold sinks on it, that you say are ugly) and they performed awesome. I was able to do 290 @ 3/3/3/8 1T. For its time, it was the only 2GB DDR1 set of ram that could really OC well. If I was to do it again, I would go with the G.Skill 2gb DDR1 ram set......

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wanting something to look as good as it performs is not a sin a hardware enthusist forum.
Also, telling someone to "get a life" and then spouting about RAM lat timings and FSB speeds is akin to a vegetarian telling people to not eat meat because slaughtering animals is cruel, and then talk about how his leather jacket is made from only the finest imported English leather :rolleyes:

What ever you say man. Im not understanding what the hell you wrote, but all I mean is why care about looks, if there is an identical product made by the same company avalible, but just doesnt have the same kinda heatsink, and no BLING BLING l.e.d's. If I came off as an a*s I apologize.
 
No, of course looks are not all that matters to me. But, the black tracers also performed kick ass. You must not be a modder or something. I mean what is the point of have a window in your case if all your components are ugly (in your opinion, like I said)? I may end up getting the old ones, but the point is, its my money and I would like to buy the black ones. So if someone knows where I can order them from, why shouldn't I get the ones that I WANT, instead of settling? If you think I am shallow, then don't post on my thread. The point was, could someone direct me to a place where I can order the RAM that I WANT? I asked for directions, not your opinion.

BTW thanks trick_m0nkey. I take it you are a fellow modder who values asthetics as well as performance ;)
 
Newegg had them for $229 with free shipping. They have the 512 x 2 kits, too. But I really wanted the 2x1Gb dual channel action. Especially since I heard something about AMD mobos and running 4 sticks of RAM. Like they revert to a higher latency or slower speed, or something. Do you know what I'm talking about? I doubt I will pay $100 more for the same sticks from Crucial. If I'm gonna spend that much, I will just buy something totally sick like some PC4800 or some mushkin Extreme performance. I don't know wha tthe hell to do.
 
I know what your talking about deejay, the timing on the boards clocks the memory down to 266Mhz instead of running at 400Mhz but i think i might have found a solution for that by running the memory at 133 Mhz and changing the cpu to memory fsb ratio to 4:3 or maybe running it at 100 Mhz at 4:4. anyway however it goes i'll post and let you know. extra sticks should be here in a few days.

Being a college student it is difficult to get the resources to make a computer with top of the line components...so you gotta do what you can to make it at least look like it's fast ^^. So I understand you completely :)

This place looks reeeeeeally iffy...I wouldnt buy from there, but I found it on pricewatch.com as the only place that had that RAM so if you're desperate enough then you can try :D

Actually, I checked back a couple of days ago, and they were back. I don't know if there was a problem with the page, or what. If they were just out of stock, I would think they would just say that. Oh well, whatever. Now if they'll just stay there till tomorrow when I get my check, I'll be in business. I cannot wait! Finally get rid of this generic PC3200 crap and see what this X2 can really do!

That would be just fine with me. Actually that would probably be even better, since I am going with a UV orange/red, black, and silver/chrome theme with my case.
