I'm thinking about getting bigger LCD. Right now I have 17" Samsung. I want to Get NEC with A-TW-IPS panel. RIght now there is 20" (1600x1200) and soon there will be 26" widescreen (1920 x 1200). I was thinking if 26" isn't overkill, for it's price I could get two those 20". Or maybe isn't that so bad ide now to get 20" and after few months 26". Or maybe it's still better to get 2x 20", cause 2x26" is to heave for my pocket . Please I need advice form people who used big screens in dual setups. Also isn't it that 20" displays to 24" is like 17" to 19" that you only got bigger pixels casue the resolution is the same and that way image is sharper on 20"?

20"-22" have the same resolution(1680x1050), 23"-26" also have the same resolution (1920 x 1200).

If all you need is lots of workspace, then I'd get 2x20" and then if you need even more you can go to 3x20". But if you want color accuracy I'd go with the new NEC 26" since it has a new backlight, 12-bit lut, and is capable of displaying 92% of the ntsc.

edit:
You could also go with 2x23" with this monitor.

It has the latest generation of IPS panel (AS-IPS i think) with a 12ms response time. Right now its the best 1920x1200 monitor by far, except its lacking alot of inputs and no HDCP.

Heres a review: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5235

I would rather stay with NEC. Is it good idea to have two different sizes screen for example 20" and 24" or 20" and 26"? Or becasue of different dot pitch it's better to have both the same? Will one 26"(1920x1200) put less stress on GPU than two 20"(1600x1200)? Also is having two different sizes of screen even more stress on GPU?

LG Phillips is pretty high quality like NEC. LG Phillips is the only producer of IPS panels as far as I know, so NEC even uses their panels.

It depends, some people will buy a Dell 3007WFP, and put two 2007WFP in portrait mode beside the 3007WFP because in portrait the 2007WFP are the same height as the 3007WFP.

Or becasue of different dot pitch it's better to have both the same?
I don't think it will make much of a difference, as long as you're not going from a huge dot pitch to a really small one. Ex: 3007WFP = .250, 2007WFP = .258

One 26" will put a lot less stress than 2x20" when you're gaming. 1920x1200 = 2304000 pixels for the GPU to render. 1600x1200 = 1920000 x 2 = 3840000 pixels for the gpu to render.

thanks si0dine. One more question. NEC 20", future 24 and 26" are they going to have the same heigh and bezel size. So when I would put them side by side it will look the same exept the width?

I don't know about the bezel(ask travbomb), but the 24" shouldn't be as tall as the 26" since screens are measured by their diagonal size. So they wouldn't look the same size side by side.

The main answer is, buy what you can afford. The price differences between 20" and 24" are noticable, same goes with above.

All 3 will be on the same chasis and height adjustable stand so you should be able to adjust them all to the same height as far as the tops of the monitors go. Obviously they will not line up on the bottom though since they are different sizes.

All of the 90 series S-IPS panels are LG-Phillips except for the 2190 which is NEC NLT.

By 20", I think he was actually referring to the 4:3 model (e.g. 2080UX+), hence the 1600*1200 resolution. I would definitelly recommend it over a WS monitor, especially if buying two monitors (I don't see two 20" WS monitors being much useful since they are rather lacking in vertical area).

travbomb, how fast is 2190? i know it's not a gamers dispaly, but its still important factor...

I think that's pretty slow for this moment...but i'd like to hear from someone who used it.....thanx

Isn't the 2007WFP 16ms gtg? People have been using it for gaming with few complaints.

I don't think the 2190 is coming out until November, so no one has any reviews for it yet.
