Sorry for another "which should I get" thread, but this comparison really hasn't come up that I've seen..

Here's the deal --

Only planning on running one vid card so I dont need crossfire. Dont really care about the wifi or remote either.... The extra PATA port would be handy tho.

Looking to OC to around 3.2ish? Please dont suggest a 6300 cause worthwile or not, I want the 4mb cache 6600 :)

Is the P5B cool for the 4mb CPUs? Early on everyone was saying get the 975 boards for 6600 and up and 965 boards for the 2mb cpus. That is no longer the case, right? Are there any stability issues 965 vs 975? Does the newer P5B have more of a future life going forward as far as Bios updates and support from Asus?

Dont really care about price diff between the two boards -- just trying to pick which would be optimal for me..

Thanks!!

Well i ordered the P5WDH after looking at the conroe oc post, and seeing it in 80% of the results with a E6600.

Its not here yet so i cant comment, but im pretty sure for over clocking people will recommend the P5WDH over the P5B.

P5W DH Deluxe vote here. So far so good if you have anymore questions just PM me.

I've own both boards and I've tried 2 different E6600's on both. The P5W-DH seems more willing to OC easier on the P5W-DH. The P5W is faster, clock for clock, over the P5B D. The P5B D only shines over the P5W when you want high FSB (i.e. E6300, E6400) and then the P5W gets blown away.

So again, for an E6600, it's a tough choice, but I might take the P5W. It's what I did. :)

If you've got an Allendale, P5B-D all the way.

I have the E6600 and P5W DH Deluxe. Good combo, nice and fast and plenty of overclocking options.

Cheers.

P5w dh deluxe for me. I just ordered that mobo/cpu combo. I haven't put it together yet but I am hoping for the best. The p5w dh deluxe even comes with a remote control and wifii. How cool is that? Here's what I will be putting together. Hope it works well together:

p5wdh deluxe
e6600 retail with stock fan and I got some of that arctic silver 5 thermal grease for it
2 x 1024 corssair 800mhz 444412
ati radeon x1950xtx
thermal take truepower 750w
coolermaster stacker 830 (very big case, longer from front to back than top to bottom, I might have over done it on the case), and I ordered 7 extra fans to max it out at 9, hopefully it won't be too noisy, if it is, then i'll cut down on the fans
xp proffesional sp2 oem ($140 at newegg)
2 x 74g 10k raptors running raid0 for the o/s (hopefully this will work)
1 x cuda250g 7200 for backups and non important data
1 x floppy
1 x samsung dvd burner

Your setup should work fine. It's very similar to mine.

Excellent. How's that ocz mem working for you? Is it running stable at 800 mhz? Thanks.

You're buying a "higher" end chip, might as well get a better board.

If you were getting ie. E6300/6400 then get P5B otherwise get something that would match the rest of your system.

Plus P5W DH Deluxe gives better xFire.

My OCZ memory has been nothing but badass. I've been able to push it to 1050ish MHz on a Biostar TForce P965 Deluxe, and on my board it's been running up to DDR900 without issues at all. It's been stable on my P5W DH at stock voltage.

In fact, right now I am at 3.24GHz at stock voltages all down the line.

i just got a P5B-D for my new rig, with a e6400 and 2gbs of ddr2 XMS2 Twinx 800mhz....still waiting on the ram from zzf, so i cannot say how i like it yet, but i do know, the board worked great in case and has a ton of options.....

Oh but if you ask me the stacker 830 was too much money. The doors are fiunicky to get on. And I have to slam my X-Fi or whatever else to use the bottom slot. Well, I use the PITA and it performs well if that makes sense. Maybe you'll get a better tray at least. I consider myself kind of ripped off.

Dan_D, that OCZ memory is kickin ass dude!!!! I have heard many hit or miss stories about the corssair mem. If it doesn't work for me I'll get the OCA that you have. Thanks.

Texuspete00, I haven't put the system together yet but I am not crazy about the looks of the 830. It is definitely expensive, and I hate that it's longer from front to back than top to bottom. It's just too big. I hope it works well though (cooling and noise wise).
