Well, the problem that is definitely there, has to do with power. When the two pins which need to be closed to switch the power on (w/ power button) are connected, then absolutely nothing happens - somehow the signal is not being recieved by the power supply. If I use a wire to jumpstart the powersupply, going through the back of the plug for the 24pin when it is plugged into the mother board, then everything turns on fine.
The other problem is probably also fault of the motherboard, but it could be other things. Even though the power starts up, nothing is shown on the screen.
For the main problem, I was just wondering if this was any known problem. Also, I'm not sure if I have all the parts that came w/ the mobo. How is asus about RMAs?

Hi maplekandalf,

I have the same motherboard but I haven't experienced the problem you described.

What I'd suggest doing is going back to basics.

Place the motherboard outside of the case on top of its original box.
Install the CPU and HSF.
Install 1 RAM piece in DIMM1.
Plug in the Power Supply (24pin and 4pin plugs)
Install a video card and the power cable if it requires one.

Try to power it on. If you get the same result then try another power supply (if you have one handy). If it still fails to POST then try a different piece of RAM.

If after doing all of this you still don't have a signal to your monitor then I'd say it's the motherboard that is faulty.

When I do a RMA for a motherboard my suppliers are usually very specific. All they want is the motherboard with minimal packaging (enough to make sure they get the board without any damage in transit).

Good luck!

Cheers.

Yeah, this is a barbones build right now anyway. Since I'm going to be returning the mobo no matter what because of the main problem, I just will wait till I get the new mobo back. Thanks for the info on the RMA.
