so who has it??

as a brit I have to wait till the 27th :(

those that do have it are you stand-alone or are you using it with the other packs?

--EDIT--
happy now?

I feel sorry for you, eeyrjmr. Not sure why THQ would have a worldwide ship date, but then release it ~2 weeks later. I'm personally going to try to pick it up tomorrow (I never pre-order games). Once I do begin playing I'll have all 3 games installed.

And ScYcS, it stands for Dawn of War: Dark Crusade.

I feel sorry for everyone that has to abbreviate games. ZOMG, ABCDEFG:XYZ5000 is out!
The people who understand the title get it, those who don't can just move on down the line.

I agree. Especially in titles, people need to finally stop assuming that everybody is 1337 like them. I understand that if a thread has already mentioned that we are talking about "The Rolling on the Floor Laughing Copter" game, you can just call is RoFLCopter ...

cant wait to get this game. Im just about ready to finish CoH or company of Heroes.

Currently DC is sitting in my bag on my desk.
I have a new 24" widescreen monitor I bought from work on my desk.

I can't leave for another 20 minutes... this is KILLING me.

^^

just one thing, seems a balls up with the installer if you have one or both of the original

you will need the CD keys for them

they are in the registry if you cant find the manuals

I went to Best Buy to pick it this morning and they said that they hadn't receviced their shipement (they ordered 16 copies). Well, their website now shows it in stock so I went over there on my lunch break and got two copies (one's for a friend). Of the 16 they ordered only 10 are left. Now, I get to sit here at work and just look at it for the next four hours. :(

Anyone know if it installs ok under Vista RC2 as that is what I am using? It should since DoW worked ok under RC1, but you never know. And, can anyone confirm that widescreen support is there?

It does have widescreen support, as noted in several reviews.

Its stand-alone, you only need the originals if you want to play multi-player, the campaign you can play with all seven races without any of the others installed.

I pick up my copy from EB tomorrow, been playing it at a friends house. I can't wait :)

Between this, NWN2, and Dark Messiah. I probly won't leave the house all winter :D

There are ways of aquiring it earlier before you can buy it in your store due to the UK release hold-up, it may or may not have showed up on unmentionable sources aprox 36 min ago. I'll be buying myself a copy I figure as well, CoH is good and all but its not satisfying my "fantacy RTS" needs but it was still $43 well spent, loads of hours of entertainment.

i just picked it up today myself and i must say that i'm having a blast. the two new races are interesting, especially the necrons

lets see!

Here's some pics that I just took. Was in a rush so they pretty much suck, but do show off some of the units.

But, dammit, now I have to choose between this and Company of Heroes...
I, personally, find DoW much more enjoyable. But both games are very good though so you can't really go wrong. Dark Crusade should only be $25 at Bestbuy, but to get the full experience you should also pick up the other two additions for $30.

bestbuy tip for 5 bucks off games. Go find one of those gamer gift cards that give you 5 bucks off a 19.99 game. Put 5 bucks on it. Go back and get the game then use the card for an easy 5 bucks off.

I did this with bf2:sf and got it for 15 bucks.

^^
do that, just get Dark Crusade for now. You will be able to play a 7races in single-play completly. The limitation comes when multiplayer since olny DC will only be able to play as Necrons or Tau, enough to wet yr appitite before you get Dow (to unlock 4 races) and WA (to unlock the last)

Here is just a brief report:

Works with Vista: Yes and No. I am running Vista x64 RC2. DC runs fine except I have various graphic anomalies (invisible units, black lines everywhere, missing textures, etc). I did have these same anomalies with WA with XP x64, but didn't with Vista x64 RC1. So, something has changed between RC1 and RC2. Anyway, I updated to the latest nVidia beta drivers (96.33 I think) and they killed everything. No games run now. You've been warned.

Widescreen: Yes and No. Yes, in that the actual game engine does support widescreen. No, in that movies and the GUI are stretched. It's better then nothing though.

DoW and WA race unlocks: You MUST have both of these installed BEFORE you install DC. Then, and only then, will DC prompt for your CD keys. Also, you apparently can't uninstall either and still use the unlocks.

Farseer, I heard that with Wide Screen the camera is closer... can you confirm this? And here are, yet again, more pics:

*note* I'm not dukerustfield, I just took those pics while watching his replay.

Yes, Relic decided for some godawful reason to use vert- to do the widescreen rather than hor+. If you don't know, what that means is they cut the top and bottom off of the 4:3 resolution with the same vertical resolution to achieve "widescreen" rather than increasing the horizontal viewing area.

Essentially it means that if you want to run at 1920x1200, rather than taking a screen that's 1600x1200 and adding 160 pixels to the right and left sides, they take one that's 1920x1440 and "cut off" 120 pixels from the top and bottom to achieve the 16:10 ratio. This results in a screen that looks "closer" to the ground:

They're not the right games, but it shows what I mean:
vert-
hor+

Yes, this is correct, the camera is zoomed in a little to make the widescreen.

Also, on my Vista experience, I reinstalled Vista x64 RC1 and have DC running fine. So, yes, there is something different between RC1 and RC2 and suggest that anyone that wants to run DC stick to RC1 for now (or until nvidia releases a new driver).

good pics...keep em comin. so now that's its been played whatcha thinking? we play DOW lots here so give us the goods

cheers!

WTF two additions for $30? What is this? GamesWorkshop price scheming and gouging? Oh wait.... :(

The original DoW + WA is $30 (for both).
Here are a couple more pics:

Excuse the pink question marks, it's just a missing texture on the map (custom map).

And G'ßöö, after playing it I feel Relic has improved on every aspect of the game. Graphics look much better, lots of detail on effects and such. I love the balance fixes that they implemented. Only problem is the broadsides and IG HWT (heavy weapons team). You cannot tell them who to shoot at. They are still useful but not nearly as useful as they should be. If you want any specifics lmk.

You can get all three games (original + the two expansions) for $50 according to this.

I liked the demo of the original game and may give this a shot. The Tau look cool, though I hear they suck in melee.

Of course Tau suck in melee... they are suppose to. They are a primarily ranged raced, with a few melee units. Necrons are a melee based race.

like? and you say overall the graphics are "tweaked", looking better?
Link to Changelog They limited a lot of the "uber" units so you won't see tons of term squads being deep striked into your base anymore... or Fire Prism spam. From what I can tell the graphics look better. It's only $25 at Bestbuy so just pick it up and give it a try. If you liked the previous DoW games, you'll like this one. :)

Im doing the Sp Campaign with Tau and gettn my ass handed to me by Eldar. Help! IDK what to do, I tried different strategies but still no go!

Did you get your Honor Guard? From what I've read, they help a ton. May want to look here for further help. (I haven't even played the campaign yet)
Thanks their tips on how to play Tau against diffrent races helped! I unlocked 3 wargears so far, I got the flamer in left hand, plasma thingy in right hand, and shoulder mounter rocket pods, man these unlocks help alot!

Another batch of screenies:

Here's a Kroot (forgot the unit's specific name) doing a sync kill, last pic shows him flinging the marine in the air.
