Core 2 Duo Heatsink/Fan?

Recently I purchased the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6600, and I had planned to buy the Scythe Ninja Heatpipe Cooler SCNJ-1100 to go along with it. When I opened the box for the CPU, I realized that it actually came with an Intel heatsink/fan included.

My question is: would this included cooling system be adequate? Or should I spend the extra dollars and continue with my plans for the Scythe Ninja? The case I will be using is the Antec P180, so there should be substantial airflow.

Thanks.

the ninja will be more quiet and give you lower temperatures, there's a reason youre paying like 60 bucks for it

I've had bad experiences with the stock HSF. I'd highly recommend something else. (I've got a Zalman CNPS9500 and the same case as you. Temps are around 37 idle, so you can expect a few degrees lower.)

It depends on your plans for the chip. If you plan on heavily overclocking, you will see a large benefit from going with the Ninja. However, if you don't plan on overclocking or only plan on having a mild <3GHz overclock, the stock heatsink will be adequate and shouldn't be too noisy, especially from inside a P180.

Thanks for the advice guys. I do plan to overclock at some point, so I guess it's worth it to go that bit extra and get the Ninja.
I previously didn't realize (have found out since) that all retail Intel CPUs come with a stock standard heatsink/fan combo. So it was a slight surprise to open the box and fine one. Noobish I know.

I'm doing a mild overclock of an E6600 to E6700 speed. No need for anything other than retail for these types of overclocks.
