Hey guys, I just received my X1900XT 512mb, the problem is the card's pci bracket won't aline correctly to the case, it is a little high up!!!!!!

It fits all the way in the pci express slot on the motherboard, but I cant seem to get it all the way down so I can screw the screws in all the way.

Help please!

I have seen some boards come with bent PCI brckets and have just bent them back into shape by hand. I mean I doubt the PCB is warped and if it is your probably screwed anyway...

It wont fit all the way ?

dam, tell ya what wash it down and send it to me, I am sure it will fit up my butt without any probs :)

Only way it wouldn't fit is if:

A: The top of the PCI bracket is bent upwards and as a result isn't "L-Shaped" anymore. You would probably notice this right away, though/

B: Your motherboard is mounted to your case improperly - ie the wrong type or size of standoffs have been used. Obviously if this were the case your other cards wouldn't fit either.

well fixed it, Sapphire unfortunately gave me a card that is a little crooked, the bottom part of the pci bracket anyways.....

It wasn't straight so I bent it a little bit to make it straight and here I am posting with the X1900XT..................

One more thing...... why is my bios screen all garbled up? Weird... since nothing else does it..... I am going to install drivers now and see what happens.

when I mean nothing is I mean in windows and window's splash screen seems fine.. my PSU is powerful enough.. antec TP550 -2

I had the same problem with my old X800XL, I asked on every forum I was a member of and nobody knew what the problem could be. Finally after 3 days I noticed the PCI bracket was bent. Doh!! Good thing you noticed it earlier.

FYI: You can lock your own threads (at least you could I have not tried it in a while).

Does the garbled BIOS screen happen repeatedly or just once in awhile?

I actually had the same problem with every ATI card I had. About 1 time out of every 20 the BIOS and boot screens would be garbled, but once it got into windows it would be fine. *shrug*

Try attaching your monitor cable to the other monitor port on your video card and then see if the BIOS look alright.

Haha guys, I think I said it wrong, the problem is not IN the bios itself haha

Only the SPLASHSCREEN where it shows the motherboard's logo..... for example Biostar...

going into the bios itself it's perfectly fine :)

I had the same issue with my Sapphire 1900xt 512 and my ds3, well sorta. it fit but it was not flush against the back of the case, the top had to be pushed up to make it line up with the thumb screws. So i had my brother help me he lifted the card a little bit and i pushed and put the screws in, it works fine though and i think its just a flaw in the card, not a serious issue/\

My X1950 arrived in the same condition, except the screw side of the PCI bracket was bent too, so I noticed it straight away. I just screwed it in until it fell into place with a satisfying *clunk*. However I also recieved mine with what looks like either corrosion or a burn mark on the PCI-E contacts, well about 3 of them anyway. The card works, but I'm not accepting a "new" card in this condition even if it's "normal" or not. Sapphire really need some quality control

speaking of quality control... my x1900xt 512 NEW came with thermal paste on the side of the cooler, on the white part... although wasn't a big problem, but yeah.... it kinda shocked me.

I had the same problem installing th x1900xt 256 mb in a Antec Sonata 2 case. I had to push real hard, when it finally snapped it it sounded real loud, like I just smashed the card in with a hammer or something.

At first I thought it ran fine but I think there might be a problem. Sometime the monitor will go blank like it has lost signal. Usually do it when window just started or entering exiting program other time it just random. First noticed it in a session of BF2. I'm not sure if it was damaged during the installation, or it's caused by a defective monitor or it's not getting enough power from the PSU.

My monitor loses signal too when windows first load, but that's about it, every game run smooth as silk.

Probably 60% of the video cards I install for customers have to be adjusted on the part of the bracket that was bent on yours. Pretty awful QC on the part of video card companies.
